The Motorola V70 has a cool traditional clock screen saver, a Futuristic looking silver body, black screen and keys that are backlit blue.
The features are minimal and the reception and sound quality are terrible. While driving on the freeway in a 98 toyota camry without the radio on, I can barely hear the other party. While at parties i often have to go into the restroom or a closet just to use the phone. Also, 1 out of 10 calls are dropped. I got this phone free from tmobile and would not recommend this phone to anyone unless looking cool is your primary concern

This phone is lovely but the menus are so appallingly set up that you need to press a million keys in all parts of the phone to achieve the simplest task. The predictive text stinks so badly that I don't even bother using it, and standard tap-entry is hit-and-miss as the keys have a slight delay before registering presses so it is easy to type faster than it can cope with. Love 'em or hate 'em Nokia have the interface sewn up. Why can't other manufacturers just look at their phones and consider the consumer. Oh, and the games are atrocious, if you care about that!

This Motorola V70 mobile phone looks the business. It has a wicked neon blue display and unique revolving fascia, which adds to the overall 'cool' effect.
If you're used to Nokia user interfaces though, it's strange trying to navigate through the features on this phone.
The selection of pre-programmed ringtones is pretty poor and after having had a look about on the 'net, no where seems to support ringtones or logos for the V70, especially not when your network provider is Orange.
The other problem is the text messaging. Predictive text is weird to get used to when you've been using a Nokia. Basically, you key in the words on the keypad, you are presented with a selection of words which you then have to choose from, rather than them just appearing on the display as you type. It is also difficult to get it to spell words that aren't pre-programmed into the memory.
In conclusion, I think this phone is great for the novelty appearance for the time being, but my next upgrade will definitely be to another Nokia.

Nokia phones are more superior than those produced by Motorola. In addition to the comments I made above, Motorola menus are not user friendly. I have to press far more key stroke to get to the same function than Nokia...all I can say is ...does anyone want to buy a 5 day old V70?

Maaaan how can u say that?
1: The phone has good reception.
2: Good looks.
3: Looks good.
4: and looks even better when you're looking at it.

So,,, soooo what if it takes an hour to sent a text man you're doing it in style...

The Motorola V70 is a beautiful, lightweight phone. Expensive. 3 band version ideal for travel.

I recently bought a v70 in Europe. The salesperson claimed it to be a tri-band phone. But now I am hearing there are different models for North America and Europe. Is there anyway of checking the tri-band capability (other than flying down to the USA!!) ??

It's a rip off to buy from the cingular website. I got my v70 for $230 without tax. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Check e-bay... There are a number of Tri-Band Versions of the phone on the web... I don't know if there are legit though. I, myself, will be receiving mine this week. Special promotion through Cingular Wireless... You can see it on www.cingular.com under Special Offers at the bottom of the page...

I don't think the V70 is tri-band. In Asia, it is definitely a dual band mobile.
