    Beware of purchasing books from Book Depository if you have an Australian IP address. I wanted to purchase a book with a rrp of 7.99 pounds but since I have an Australian IP address, the book is automatically switched to include shipping into the cost of the book as it was priced at 21.67 pounds. Despite customer service saying it is free shipping, this is deceptive and misleading conduct by Book Depository.

    I recently orders 3 books in total, 1 Adult book (still waiting delivery but website says despatched so fingers crossed) plus 2 childrens books.

    Whilst it does state (in very small print somewhere in body of the description) that the book was published in the US it is not obvious so until I received these books I did realise this. Normally it wouldnt bother me but as it's a childrens book some of the spellings are different and could be confusing to children. Ordering from a seemingly UK site I ...

    Have been so impressed with them that I have just bought all of my Christmas present books through them. Much better value than other online booksellers!

    BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE & INEFFICIENCY: I refer to my Order N 403-2626777-3237101(www.Amazon.fr)dated(21/10/2009)! ONLY 1 of 3 English Study books purchased had the CD inside. I have requested the 2 missing CDs TWICE... There is a problem of indifference. Business success is means that integrity, efficiency, excellent customer service are PRIORITY. I am extremely disappointed. I live in France and cannot go in person to deal with problem. In the past ,I rated the Book Depository 5's for eveything. ...

    i pre-ordered a book in oct for £15.00 only to find that it dropped to £12.74 two days later a week has now passed and still no book, this has been one of the worst places i have ever used , i have since asked for a refund but still nothing every time i query this they say they are still looking into it, they should never have took the money from my account until book was ready but they did and now i`m £15 quid down and no book, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

    I couldn't get hold of the new Steig Larsson audio book anywhere other than BookDepository, easy ordering, decent price and turned up promptly with no issues at all. Might have been better if the packaging was card rather than a padded envelope, however the case wasn't damaged. Free shipping on all titles is great - possibly a bit too tempting for someone who buys too many books!

    great at finding new and older books, really quick service and excellent customer ordering, I have used them loads of times and would really rate them for christmas presents! all arriving on time and no problems at all.
    I was impressed at the number of books they can get hold of and even helped with unusual titles that I could not find elsewhere.

    saw a '365 days of the year shoes' calendar on the high street that I wanted but checked online to see if it was cheaper. TBD were selling for half rrp, and free postage, so i ordered from them instead. Delivery was much quicker than anticipated (I always think free delivery will be slow). Really impressed and more than happy to use their website again

    I've always received excellent service from The Book Depository and they have always been the best value for money when comparing prices. They don't take any longer to arrive than Amazon regular deliveries. I would recommend them to anyone. Staff I have dealt with have been friendly and helpful. I have used them on many different occasions. They have been especially useful for text books that can cost much more on other sites.

    The items I ordered arrived damaged and as the packing was undamaged they must have been in that state when they were packed. Although they offered a refund they would not compensate for the return postage. They sent me goods not fit for purpose and as such they should be responsible for the return costs, instead I got a generic response for a returns policy. I've ordered a lot from them and this will be my last order as I'll return to using Amazon.

    After a very unhappy experience a few months ago with book depository I vowed never to use them again. However, due to them being the only UK supplier of a book I wanted I decided to give them a second chance. BIG MISTAKE.


    I pre-ordered the book early September at a price on £12.74, they took the money immediately. On 1 October the day the book was due to be released I received an email telling me the book was in stock and that it would be with me in a few days! Today I checked to see ...

    Here's what happened in one order:

    I had a low order price, but when it came time to send one item, they said it was out-of-stock and so they cancelled and refunded. I checked their website and the book was in stock, but for a higher price.

    Second item: again, I pre-ordered for a cheap price. I even received a notice that my order had been received and was being packed, and I would receive it within a couple of days. A few days later, I get a notice saying my item had been cancelled and refund ...

    After a week waiting I phoned The Book Depository to ask when I could expect delivery I was told that the goods would be sent that afternoon, I had to wait another week before they came.

    Re The Book Depository:

    My sole criticism is the unacceptably long (in my opinion) delay twixt order and delivery. I am an inpatient soul and want things "now" not in goodness-knows-how-many-days or weeks time!

    I have purchased a number of books during the past 18 months or so and am always disappointed by the length of time they take to arrive. A book ordered on 13th August - which was shown in stock - is still being processed today, 20th August.

    If they could "crack" the delivery issu ...

    Thought I'd try The Book Depository as an alternative to Amazon as book would supposedly be dispatched within 24hrs. Delivery took 6 days and book was damaged. Won't be using them again.

    I bought almost twenty books from The Book Depository. Never had any problem. I live in The Netherlands and mostly the books arrived within 8 days. I am very satisfied with this shop. Often they are cheapest.

    I've ordered 5 books with the Book depository on the 13th July, afer a week 2 books arrived. However, there's no sigh of remaining 3 books ( they worth £100). I've tried to get in touch with them writing 12 e-mails, to which they didn't even bother to reply. There's no phone no. and if they fail to respond to e-mails it means that you're left high and dry. Customer's service is non existant. What they do is outrageous!!! I will NEVER ever use tham again. it's better to pay more and receiv ...

    I have sent numerous emails to the book depository and never received a reply. They sent me two copies of the same book and I wish to return one. There is a phone number on another website for all those who have mentioned the lack of phone support. - 01452 307 905. If enough people contact them through this number, I'm sure they might get the message.

    This is the second time I ordered a book from the bookdepository. First time it was delayed for two weeks, but this time around it arrived after only 5 working days, exactly as they promised. Book is in perfect condition, great value for money!
