I have had motor insurance for over 30 years and I have to say this company is the worse insurance company broker I have ever used. £256 annual premium had to cancel after two months , £29 refund/ credit which they even charge £5 for a Bacs transfer which will take them up to 6 weeks to pay back, laughable. The service on the phone waiting time is shocking their manners and attitudes/ email replies are shocking with around 5days response to reply. Terrible company and service. The cancellation policies should be illegal!!

I have a 30 year unblemished driving history, never have i ever dealt with such a disgusting company. No customer care, no communication skills just bully boy tactics. The amount of info they start demanding (with no please or thank yous) after a few hours is unbelievable. They claim to be a happy family run business, this is not the case, they may offer the cheapest quote.. Please pay a little extra and shop elsewhere (you will be treated better by their rivals). Beware of the small print, lots of hidden charges, i hope karma catches up with them one day.

Absolute disgrace of a company. We got a very competitive quote so purchased the insurance. A few days later received an e mails asking for a ridiculous amount of information and photos etc that was difficult to upload. They ask if you have no claims on camper van insurance which we did not however we filled in the box to say we had 9 years no claims on our last normal car which was accepted and a quote given. They then asked for proof of no claims and refused to accept it as this policy was no longer active (obviously not as we cancelled it the same day as we took out insurance for our new vehicle which was the camper van). They then almost doubled the premium plus a £40 admin charge. We then told them to we were going to look for alternatives as their policy did not suit us. We found an excellent deal with “just campers” so rang back to cancel the policy within our 14 day cooling off period which they said would cost us £76. I will be taking this matter matter further. They mislead customers then charge for it. Terrible company and should be investigated.

Zero stars for this misleading and rude insurance company. I took out insurance via a third party in the internet and agreed to pay monthly instalments, however apparently I took out a ‘loan’ what??? I was not informed it was a ‘loan’ . This is misleading and not transparent. Seems Staveley Head get paid by a credit company (Close Brothers) in full up front for the whole year’s insurance. When I cancelled the policy 6 months in , as I’ve sold the vehicle- Staveley head say I have to pay off the ‘ loan’ in full Its a disgrace that you are processed into having a ‘loan’ when you are asking for a pay monthly insurance agreement. Financial Ombudsman here I come !! Do not touch this company unless you want a 12 month financial ‘ loan’ .

I entered my details into Confused.com and got various quotes. Stavely Head looked best, so I clicked through and bought the motorhome policy. Next thing, I get an email saying that I'd entered the wrong storage address. I checked what I'd entered into Confused.com, and it was correct. I was then more or less told by email that I was wrong. To cut a long story short, they cancelled my policy and kept £25 as an "administration fee". I went with another company via same site - no issues with the storage address being transferred correctly. Looks very much like my story is the same as all the others here. I have already complained to the FCA and my credit card company.

The most awkward and complicated insurance company on the market. In 30 years of driving this is the worst insurance company I've dealt with. The quote may seem competitive at first but look out for the devious small print. The cost will double before you know what's happened. Appalling customer service.

Paid yearly policy upfront, but sold my motorhome 6 months in, so rang to cancel. Not only do you not get any refund on remaining months, they also demand a £85 cancellation fee, which is cleverly written into the terms and conditions of the policy.... avoid at all costs!!!

Cancelled £280 policy after less than 3 months. Told I owe them £22!(which they waived). Expected maybe £100 back after £85 cancellation fee but actually received nothing for remaining 9 months of policy. Worth paying a bit extra for a straightforward insurer.

These guys are absolutely rubbish. You use them and they do everything in there power to cancel your insurance and then charge you for the privilege. Don't use them it's not worth it.

I canceled my policy with one month to go due to retirement. I wouldn't have been greatly surprised not to get any premium back but I was surprised to be charged £25 for canceling - due in 7 days. (Apparently, I should have read the small print!) They gained a month with no liability! Within a fortnight part of which I was away, I have received emails several letters all telling me to pay up immediately. I should not have told them I was canceling it! I feel harassed and intimidated by them. I'm so grateful I never had a claim! Don't touch with a barge pole.

not helpful, rude and hard to deal with...used their service for over a year with no issues till I need to speak to them... then its hard work... Don't do it!!

Stay clear of this firm, utterly incompetent - not even my insurer and they mistakenly wrote off my car when one of their customers drove into me. I only found out when BMW did part ex and background check - Staveley Head refused to talk with Axa to remove Cat C and I lost thousands as a result. Awful service and they still haven't even paid Axa for the repairs either! Avoid!!

I can't comment about their willingness to pay out in the event of an accident but they did erode my no claims bonus. After providing them with evidence of eight years NCD they only gave me two for our motorhome (I have a truck licence so it's not like I couldn't drive it). Then, two accident free years later, they would only give me evidence of one years NCD. Very frustrating. If you need motorhome insurance, go with Safeguard. Much better all round.

Had a phone call from them asking why I had left the scene of an accident and hadn't informed them i had been involved in one, I told them i hadn't had one, they had a signed witness statement with my reg. Only problem the "accident" was over 200 miles away, between xmas and new year, my van was on the drive all the time, I proved beyond doubt i was no where near (am only one insured for van), they wouldn't accept it, asked and asked for all information, they refused never put anything in writing, said the only investigation was to be done by the pursuing insurance co, they stripped me of my no claims which meant i was penalised at my renewal and had to declare a pending claim. If the claimant ins co hadn't admitted they had a company name for the sign written van (mine isn't) that they had had from day one I believe that they would have settled the claim. I had to re insure with them. I had no apology for false accusation, felt I was guilty till proven innocent, To top it after that I sold the van and canceled the insurance 8 and a half months later when I had 3 and half months left which should have returned £80 plus to find they gave me £18 after a £25 admin fee and will not explain how they arrive at the figures. BEWARE

After i purcased my policy i was informed that i would need 2 passcodes from dvla, i tried to do it but found it too technically difficulf, they had a up to date copy of my license ,i was a long term customer and the were charging me £190 for insurance that I subsequently found for £110, i cancelled my insurance before they cancelled me i was charged £90 cancellation fee,i am taking them to small claims court. Dont buy their products they will change the terms after purchase and rip you off.

The salesman in the motor trade insurance department was arrogant and mislead me. He claimed most companies would not cover me to insure my cars on the road outside my garage, so I bought a policy from him. Within 24 hours I had found that many trade insurers do provide this insurance and Staveley Head Ltd misled me in order to profit from my business. Within 24 hours I cancelled their inferior policy and asked for a refund. They would only refund 80% of my money! So now I'm taking them to the County Court for a refund and compensation. Beware!

Absolutely agree!
They will charge for anything they can. Amend the policy £35, Cancel the policy £50, even if you make an error that is beyond your knowledge, guess what....£35. If not paid within 7 days, then they charge again (surprise surprise!!) and this time the cancellation of £50.
Atrocious customer service, they do not listen and threaten to hang up when it suits.
DO NOT USE, abysmal company
