Watch out for the small print. I cancelled my membership as I moved away from the area and I was contacted a few weeks later by staff saying I had to pay a further month before I could officially leave. I informed them that I had moved away. Furthermore that I was not willing to pay for a membership I had already cancelled. “Absolutely appalling ”

The gym itself would be good if not for a number of stupid policies and practices and complete lack of care and respect shown towards members. There is air conditioning but it's turn off so it is like working out in a sweaty smelly saurna. Machines are not maintained and when they do break are left out of order for months. The jacuzzi in the pool area at Selby has been out of action for years and even if you just want a swim, most of the time you can't because the pool is full of children… Read Full Review

“Discriminatory and unfriendly staff”

Being a disable customer i tried to cancel my membership 2 days after setting it up as my surgeon advised against it. I rang up and was basically told i had to pay it for 6 months. Being in a stressed state anyway i simply took this (and send in a letter from my surgeon). DW Sports claim to have not received this and have even breached their contract by stating that I now have to pay for 12 months. “Not worth the hassle”

Terrible service in regards to cancelling membership given 2 months notice and was still continued to be charged until i cancelled the direct debit, to now be told that I need to pay a another full month as they 'apparently' recieved no confirmation I had cancelled my membership. “Appallingly bad custom relations on membership...”

I have been appalled at the extremely poor quality of customer support that I received from DW sports when I tried to cancel my membership, as others here have found. “Children's swimming lessions - nightmare”

I am a member of Bromborough DW Gym. I joined with the intention of swimming most evenings after work for about half an hour. For the first couple of years it was lovely and relaxing, then they started to incorporate swimming lessons most evenings. I had to score a 1 star as apparently they don't allow the truth.... ZERO..I have resorted to logging length of time per call to their unanswered phone number plus my conversations with my local branch PLUS THE 6 emails and requests for some customer service... This has now been 2 months trying to cancel my membership... I will never sign to this gym again or recommend. I wish I'd searched first as they are an absolute disgrace. Thankfully, persistence paid off.. I will never ever sign up to this establishment.. absolutely disgusting way to treat people. Customer service is designed to rip people off. All I can say is log every text.. record every phone call (don't tell them your recording.. it's for your evidence. They will hang up if you tell them your recording) .Why would they want to be on record? Get names of who your speaking to. Remember each call takes at least 15 minutes for customer servicet o even answer..

“There are no words”

I have been waiting for the air conditioning to be fixed in Newtownabbey DW for 8 months. Last night I slipped in Studio 1 and as a result have had to miss a golf outing with work. What makes this even more annoying is the blatant disregard for the well being of members. I know of at least one other person who has suffered a bad fall. If it wasn't for a couple of the instructors (who are excellent), I would have already left. My advice is avoid if you can because you will get very poor… Read Full Review

And the impossibly poor service I have received from DW when wanting to cancel my membership has prompted me to do so, so people are aware the struggle you may have when cancelling. Due to moving jobs I needed to cancel my membership. I thought this would be easy to do! How wrong was I! I called numerous times to the customer service, sometimes waiting for my call to be answered for 20 minutes! Hi, I tried to suspend my membership with DW Warrington a couple of times unsuccesfully. I started with DW Nottingham after moving into the local area in July 15. I wish I had checked for reviews in advance! Anyway, I signed up for 12 months at a student rate of £29/ month with the option to cancel after 6 months. If you join DW for classes be warned: bookings are open 7 days ahead at 0800 and because of the high demand for popular classes the website regularly has hiccups and crashes leaving you wondering why you are getting nowhere.
