“SOUTHPORT: DON'T DO IT!”

Written on: 08/03/2017 by Braggnk1963 (1 review written)

I have just returned from my usual Sunday session at Southport DW Gym. There has been a HUGE deterioration in the gym membership, customer service and maintenance in the last few years. Today, it reached an all time low. Customer service has been poor at best ,of late, but today i am DISGUSTED at the unprofessional behaviour ,rudeness and aggressive response to what was initially a genuine complaint about the broken steam room (AGAIN!!!!). The front of house manager and membership consultant… Read Full Review

“worst gym ever”

Written on: 05/03/2017 by Johnsonbu308 (1 review written)

DW have taken too much money from my account when i try to get it back they just say they will look into it so i ask to cancel but they threten to pass my details to arc debt collection who buy debt from them at a cheep rate and add their own costs plus interest. My health and mental health have deteriated due to the threats and since having a number of injuries due to the faulty dangerous equipment. And over chlorination of the spa. And a very unclean unsafe steam room sharp broken tiles, very… Read Full Review

Written on: 04/03/2017

On organ transplants As one bloke at Fulton today thought it was great to take the mickey out of me by saying you don't need to lose any more organs to use the gym. I've had 2 liver transplants and a lung. He was on the large side with a massive earring in his ear.very rude… Read Full Review

“Not worth it !”

Written on: 03/03/2017 by pvPayne176 (1 review written)

Middlesbrough ! Machines broken and take forever to get fixed, when you ask staff you get a standard uninterested answer. Staff have no people skills and come across as rude and arrogant. Men's showers and changing areas are disgusting. The place has a general feel that it's being run down, with a plan to close. Not worth the money !… Read Full Review

“Absolutely the epitome of hell.”

Written on: 28/02/2017 by Warnergk283 (1 review written)

The WORST pool layout in the world. A puddle in the sidewalk would provide a better swim. Whoever designed the pool should be employed planting baby trees in Canada where they might actually provide the world with some benefit. The entire end of the pool is shallow steps which means you can't actually complete a length. The length of the pool is 20m and the depth throughout is 1.2m - not enough to do a tumble turn. No pool etiquette either, just a free-for-all with gym-bunnies coming down… Read Full Review

“Filton - Bristol Review”

Written on: 27/02/2017 by HonestMcPhee (1 review written)

New Tier 1 gym in Filton. Dirty. Zero customer service. Poor class selection at peaks times. One or the other. Great equipment, too dirty to want to use. Not enough toilets. Changing rooms unclean. Nothing good to say about this place. … Read Full Review

“Lowest of the low”

Written on: 22/02/2017 by HumbertoSlaughter (1 review written)

Wouldn't send my Labrador here, let alone return myself. All about the money, absolutely zero customer service. No induction in the three months I was there, despite several requests. No guidance in any shape or form - just told to ask about each machine as i got to it IF i had a problem using it. Simply not good enough and not what I joined a gym for. ADVICE is to not join at all, but if you do, pay upfront for three or six months while you try it and realise how utterly dreadful they… Read Full Review

“Nightmare to cancel!”

Written on: 04/02/2017 by megan_d91 (1 review written)

Good gym, until you want to cancel your membership. Rang the number, like it stated on the website to do. Gave them a months notice, like it stated on their contract. Now I'm getting emails and phone calls threatening with legal action if I don't pay this months membership, despite the fact I quit 2 months ago. Now they're conveniently denying all knowledge I quit. They only accept cancellations over the phone, not in person, over email or letter, where you would be able to prove you cancelled… Read Full Review

“Stay away. Cancelling even out of contrac”

Written on: 11/01/2017 by kkPorter322 (1 review written)

Stay away. Cancelling even out of contract is a nightmare. They will not let you cancel if you are not in contract, will keep ringing you and will threat you that they will take you to a debt collector if you cancel the DB. I rang few days ago to enquire that how do I go about cancelling membership, I was not in contract. I was advised that I can simply cancel the DB as I am not in any contract (he checked all details). I have today received a threatening phone call from a very rude/… Read Full Review

Did you have any luck with this? I cancelled two months ago, and now getting similar phone calls and emails, them denying knowledge I quit and threatening me with legal action if I don't pay up. It's not a first with these!

“Not family friendly”

Written on: 19/12/2016 by TheresaBrown (1 review written)

Joined the gym as it offered family swim at set times for £3 per session each child per session. Thought it would be perfect for both using the gym and taking my children to swim. When I attended equipment always seemed to be broken and in the adult only swim times half the pool always seemed to be condened off for baby swim classes. Annoying but I overlooked it as DW is £20 cheaper per month than my next nearest gym. I then called to specifically ask for child swim times that day and duly… Read Full Review

“went on a 10 day trail mostly for the wet area,...”

Written on: 26/11/2016 by dwMilne46 (1 review written)

went on a 10 day trail mostly for the wet area, equipment not working, told over a month to fix the steam room, signed up on line, but canceled same day as I was entitled to, they accepted my cancellation, then took a small payment, I rang up again, they confirmed I had canceled and did not have to pay anything more, but when I visited the club on a 2 week offer, they said I was still a member and owed them 2 months money, they said they rang me up and emailed me about it, there was no record… Read Full Review

“Not The Best Of Gyms....”

Written on: 26/11/2016 by Johnboytheyounger (1 review written)

Promised the earth when I joined but unfortunately failed to deliver. Much of the gym equipment out of order a lot of the time, and when you want advice - can you find an assistant? No chance! The pool is hardly ever fully available - always some 'parent and child' type class taking half of it up. The steam room is quite good - admittedly - but the background music is hardly ever working. Same with the whirlpool - frequently out of use. Not DW's fault admittedly - but some of the clientele use… Read Full Review

“Awful company”

Written on: 23/11/2016 by AlaniClark311 (1 review written)

They make it so awkward for you to cancel don't answer the phone etc. Then when you finally do they charge you two months in advance. Absolutely appalling customer care. Someone really should start looking into this company and immediately. Keep well away! Money making fast profit company who I hope will go bust soon due to the lack of respect and customer service they show to their loyal customers… Read Full Review

“Please please please avoid like the plague!!!”

Written on: 21/11/2016 by Keithmw243 (1 review written)

Absolutely pleasant when you want to join. Try to cancel and it's a totally different story. Shoddy equipment, very poor hygiene. In the club the staff members told me to call head office to cancel membership. Call head office and you can not get through to anyone. Go back to the club and one sympathetic member of staff agrees that the cancellation procedure is ridiculous. After trying about 100 more times to call to cancel, had to cancel my direct debit. Have been inundated with emails… Read Full Review

Did you manage to sort this at all? Having similar problems with the gym myself. Cancelled in December, now they're denying I ever cancelled, and demanding I pay up, otherwise they take legal action. It's ridiculous!

“Really annoying company to deal with”

Written on: 17/11/2016 by Sammy262 (1 review written)

I hadn't been told there would be a £20 joining fee on the two occasions that I went in to talk to them about the membership, then when I went in to join they stung me with a joining fee. Two days later my partner joined and there was no joining fee. When I called to complain about this, I was told that as they are a 'commercial company' it is their right to take the joining fee on and off as they wish, and didn't feel like I should have been told about it before hand. Calling them was like… Read Full Review

“DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR”

Written on: 09/11/2016 by aggyart (1 review written)

DW Sports seem nice when they want you to join, and they seem nice when you do join & go to their gym & their equipment & gyms are not too shabby! But ... they become horrific when you want to leave/cancel!!! It's true, every worst review on the internet about them regarding cancellations. Suddenly you go from a 'believed' paying customer member to a 'liar' leaving non customer member. They try to frighten/scare/bully/threaten you at the very first chance they get when you cancel if you haven't… Read Full Review

“Atrocious service ”

Written on: 07/11/2016 by Ballard1975 (1 review written)

I have been going to gyms for 25 years. I spent about 4 years at the Oldham DW Sport gym. When the air conditioning broke down, it was too hot to train properly during the summer months. After 4 months of repeatedly complaining to the gym manager and the head office there was no sign of a resolution. At this point my membership came up for renewal so I was glad to leave DW Sports and find another gym with working air conditioning. I can only guess that my treatment by DW Sport was a result of… Read Full Review
