Badly trained staff and not all are very nice!
Problem came when trying to cancel joint membership because my wife has incurable cancer. Letters lost, emails ignored and eventually we were still stung for hundreds or go to court! No sympathy for our situation and shocking lack of communication apart from their threatening demand letters.
Frankly Bannatynes stink avoid like the plague!!!!!

Bannantynes blackpool is an okay gym and members of staff are mostly friendly but other members very child unfriendly despite knowing the set times kids can use the pool. i have had several issues with people moaning to each other about children when my child has been swimming (she does lengths can swim better than half of them and doesnt bomb or jump in or mess about etc) someone complained a 8 week old baby was in water two minutes before 2 oclock and the swimming instructor has had similar pr ...- Read Guest's review (140 words)

I have been trying to cancel for 5 months now. Milton Keynes Bannatynes is run by children. They have "lost" 3 cancellation letters and i'm still no closer to cancelling my membership. How are they getting away with it. Duncan Bannatyne should be ashamed to put his name to this poor excuse of a business. WORST GYM, WORST SERVICE AND THE LEAST PROFFESIONAL ORGANISATION I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!! If you are thinking about joining Bannatynes DON'T DO IT!- Read Guest's review (77 words)

Bannatines Redland is the absolute pits. I'm not even taking into account the cramped changing rooms and unfair booking system, which a lot of members are complaining about. The management is really unpopular with members.
Anyway, while on holiday in July I broke my leg and gave written notice as I met the terms of 6f of the membership contract (which in itself is almost impossible to satisfy - surely there must be a law against screwing over injured people?). It is almost October and Redland ar ...- Read Guest's review (143 words)

Banatynes Ashford - What a shambles!! It takes forever for them to answer the phone (if they bother at all) 24 rings this morning. I phoned to complain about having to do Aqua classes without music, it seems the system is broken (has been since Monday - today is Friday) and it won't be fixed until at least next tuesday. Got palmed off by someone who didn't give a toss and wouldn't put me through to the manager because he was too busy. Can't they buy a portable system? They make enough profit out ...- Read Guest's review (163 words)

I have had most unpleasant experience being a member of the Bannatyne's club in Westminster.
I will not recommend to anyone, even I wanted to invite my friends and now I didn't advised them to join this venue.
They only care about the money, not the people. The like robots, not people
who care about clients being satisfied with service.
I know I am not alone who had the same opinion.- Read darefusion's review (71 words)

Okay, i've been with Bannatyne, Leicester for nearly two years. As much as i'm angry at them right now, i will freely admit that the gym there was clean and well maintained; a good place to work out.
The problems start when you try and cancel your membership.
yes, folks, i have run afoul of what appears to be a notorious scam where you are required to place 3 months notice of your intent to withdraw.
Simply put, I am six months past my 12mth contract and i am now required to pay an additiona ...- Read Guest's review (186 words and 1 comment)

My brother and myself joined The Thurrock Lakeside Branch of Bannatyne in 2006, and have had no real problems since. Yes the gym staff are useless, badly trained and unhelpful. Our company, due to the economic climate is really suffering and we will probably go to the wall unfortunatly. We mentioned this in a letter to the club but they were only interested in giving a 20% reduction on the 3 months notice, (not explained on joining), a joint saving of £60.00, this would however mean an imm ...- Read Guest's review (106 words)

Was pressured into a Bannatyne membership for 12 months. Only went in to ask what memberships they had :(. Wasn't told about 7month or no minimum term contract only the £48 quid a month one. Haven't been able to go since comming off ill from college due to mental health difficulties the prevent me being anywhere busy.- Read Guest's review (55 words)

My partner and I joined the Bannatyne's Worksop club nearly a year ago, paying £720 upfront for the year. On initial inspection, we were impressed with the appearance and friendliness of the club and that was our reason for joining. It soon became clear that cleanliness was an issue in the ladies changing area (men's area very clean). One of the cleaners spends 90% of her time chatting and actually said to me 'if it smells clean, it is clean' which I had to disagree with. We haven't used t ...- Read Guest's review (218 words and 1 comment)

Bannatyne, Grove Park, London: I joined/attended many gyms since 2000 and this one is the most unfriendly I have attended in terms of staff and members. The staff are surly and the service poor. Instructors are swapped with others without notice to class members (so they are not able to make a choice as to whether they want to do the class or not), contact with Head Office staff appears to be no better.- Read Guest 101's review (87 words)

Bannatyne gym is basic and classes are irregular and seem to be rushed! gym staff and cleaning staff are helpful and friendly however I felt that one member of staff was rude to me and after six months they still hadn't gotten around to arranging my direct debit and twice i paid in the club via card and then, as they made an admin error, had to get bank statements to prove this! I made 27 calls to the club to arrange direct debits but was never once, even when i went into complain personal, call ...- Read lookatme431's review (150 words)

After filling out the form about all my health issues, I re-iterated to the trainer that I had bad knees. He advised that I use the X-trainer, which I tried during the induction until it became uncomfortable. He said there would be discomfort initially, but to keep trying. On my first day, I was on the X-trainer for 35 seconds before I felt an incredible pain in my right knee. I told the trainer on my way out, but there was no advice on how to handle the situation. Unfortunately, I was unab ...- Read southernbelle52's review (242 words)

Bannatyne's Solihull is truly the best health club I have been with. I joined nearly 3 years ago and I absolutely love it. The best thing is you always feel comfortable and motivated to go back. I go twice a week and go to 2 classes. I know the staff well and they are always pleased to see me. Overall... Excellent!!- Read rp2112's review (84 words)
