I went to a work shop run by a University in Manchester and a few of the students had Apple Macs and I must admit they looked pretty good, my old windows laptop was OK, but kept crashing and are prone to viruses so i made my mind up that I indeed would take the plunge, the people in the apple store were amazing and very helpful indeed, but shop around as there are deals on the web to get them a little cheaper, but ultimately you pay for what you get, im still learning to get to grips with... I used to have PC only, I was even belonging to the people saying it's silly to pay more for a mac... Well I switched to Mac one year ago and I have to say there is not a single day I would regret this choice! Great design, easy interface, infinite possibilities, great customer care and guarantees... The Mac Book Pro is really a great working tool, it reacts fast and is 100% reliable! I never experienced any single trouble with this computer, and I would definitively buy Apple again! (read more)

By using this Laptop I got 99% satisfaction. The build quality of the new MacBook Pro is excellent, and the new Lion operating system is sophisticated and very stable. It is very fast to start windows and takes only 2 seconds to shut down. My only problem are the little things, finder can be irritating if you're an obsessive compulsive person, full screen windows have to manually manipulated. It's graphics supporting is really nice and so I am very comfortable to work on many high graphics... (read more)

i bought this laptop to see what all the fuss is about and from what i can see it is a good laptop being a computer geek i have tested it to its max and it still runs stable and fast when put under a lot of stress it is fast and starting up and takes about 2 seconds to shut down (WOW) the osx lion is a good operating system fast, the only down side to owning a mac is when you want to link it up to your home server, it dosent like talking to windows 7 so have had to take it off the network.... I've just changed from a windows laptop/windows pc to a more expensive macbook pro 17" 2012. One of the best things I've ever done. No freezing, no crashing, no viruses, no blue-screens, no errors and a completely flawless operating system. It's fast, has an i7 processor and lots of added extras. Well worth the money. Don't listen to negative reviews - they either can't afford the apple product or they're obsessed with Windows. Once you get rid of the virus-riddled, slow Windows systems,... (read more)

It all depends on what you do with laptop to determine whether you buy mac or pc, I've used both since I were a youngun and can say my life has been easier since I went mac (you never go back). It also has that pulling power that all other laptops never to bother to emulate, if you're into looks that is. However macbook pros have the power to back it up. This laptop is very reliable and easy to use. Aside from the wonderful features it has, it carries enough protection that can prevent your identity from hackers. The availability of the iClouds, allows me to store more files aside from my hardware, which I usually do not prefer in storing big files. Love it (read more)

As a massive fan of apple products for quite some time i was not at all surprised to see them out do themselves in the quality of their products! The new operating system "Lion" is a pleasure to use and the optional 8GB of Ram really makes running high end software a breeze. Slightly on the pricey side but then they usually are but i am more than happy to pay extra as i know it will keep going for years as my old MacBook did. Battery Life seems to of improved but i reckon if they good... (read more)

I was using crappy dell laptops for a long time. Even though i know apple laptops are the best i was hesitant because as a windows only computer user i thought learning a new operating system will be hard. But it was much easier and intuitive to learn the os. If you are still a windows user, ditch that old dell laptop and go buy a apple product! (read more)

There is a saying that a Macintosh user cannot use a PC but a PC user can use a Macintosh. This is because that the Mac is a dream to use and really is 'plug and play'. The build quality of the new MacBook Pro is excellent, and the new Lion operating system is sophisticated and very stable. All the applications – like Adobe CS – loaded without problems and perform very well. And there is the legendary Macintosh reliability behind the ownership of this superb computer. Yes, it is... I bought this machine for my parter 3 months ago and she loves it The quality of the physical thing is far higher than most windows machines out there, it is a beautiful thing to look and feel. However the operating system really is not that intuitive at time when you have come from a windows environment. One example is that where you can alt + tab in windows and flick between every individual one. Where as on the Apple, you can only seem to flick between applications, not their seperate... Ive only had this machine a few months now but it exceeds my expectations in just about all areas - design, functionality and usability, storage, connections and processing speed. Battery life is rather limited if Im honest. And the audio sound is somewhat average - given the price tag a decent set of speakers should come as standard. Anyway, minor gripes. Its a great purchase. (read more)

I required a decent laptop for my work and after looking around and doing quite a lot of research, I decided that, contrary to popular opinion, the price of the Apple offering wasn't so different from a similar specification of PC style laptop and as I already owned an Apple iMac, I bought one of the original unibody 15" MacBook Pro's.
I wish I'd bought the full compliment of RAM at the beginning as I run Windows XP as a virtual machine (because of one particular VPN application which only...

I bought my apple macbook pro to take on tour. As a dj i can run a lot more software on it, ableton live, logic pro 9 etc. without it stalling or crashing like my old macbook 13". I also like the bigger screen, it allows me to see more and have more windows up to play with whilst doing live mixes.
All in all, I think its a little overpriced (like most apple products) but it's a good bit of kit and really reliable.

I've been a professional computer user for years, and as with many people, my place of work used Windows NT based PC's. I was pretty good with them, and each time I had a problem, the IT dept sorted it out.
Then, I started work at a firm that used Mac's. Not being familiar with them, my first question was "What's the number for the IT dept?". The answer came "We don't have one." I was dreading having a problem and losing time. However, after a few days, I was up to speed on the subtle...

I love my Macbook Pro although it just seems to be running quite slow for the past 12mnths. I have reformatted my computer and its still slow. I don't have any viruses on my computer so i don't think this is a contributing factor. This probably my biggest complaint with this laptop. I think the battery life could also be a little better too. Apple seems to love to increase battery life with each new model. For the 1st 6 months it was all fine, it was fast worked prefectly. Basically no issues at all. But around april I started having issues. The casing started giving me electric shocks and one day it made a massive pop and scared the hell out of me.

I had a macbook pro for work and totally hated it, the battery was no where near what everyone was going on about and the navigation of operating system was far from second nature.
I've used apple before but think this is overpriced and simply a slim laptop with a high price tag to increase sales for apple over the success of the iphone.
Avoid unless you like new gadgets with all show and no go!

Bought a 17" Macbook Pro about 4 months ago from eBay. A bit more expensive than a PC of similar spec, but what you get is also much more. Far less flaky than the alternative.
Both my children and my parents (when babysitting) are regular users, neither had much computer experience, much less on a Mac. Gave them a separate login and they were away with next to nothing in the way of showing them the ropes.

I think that the Mac's are absolutely excellent and the customer service I have received from them, after sales, has been second to none. When I first bought my I Mac, I had problems with it after only one year. I own both a Windows and Mac laptop, and Mac is easily the better brand.
Not only are they nice to look at both outside and in, but they are easy to use, don't crash or get viruses [in my experience] and have extremely long battery life compared to their competitors.
I have the aluminum MacBook Pro, and the amount of times that I have spilt a drink on the thing without it being affected is amazing.
They are easy to clean, robust, and everything is tucked away - you don't have a disc tray...

I love my Macbook. Let me start by saying that. I wasn't sure I would, after loads of my friends kept telling me how much I would (I didn't watch Titanic due to the hype either but feel that decision was justified!).
My Macbook came travelling with me recently, and it was great to be able to access emails through the wifi connection. Everything is easy to use, and just kinda makes sense. It loads up and shuts down quickly, and seems to be immune to viruses (touch wood).I haven't had any...

I'm just not impressed and I used to be a rabid Mac fan (owned one of the first 128K Mac's actually). Don't get me wrong, I'm writing this review on a Macbook Pro, so it must do something right, and it does. The computer has all of the usual Apple advantages - style of both software and hardware, foolproof set up and ease of use.
But it's a computer that's waiting for the industry to catch up. It's called "Pro", but in the main professional markets where Apple retains a presence, the all-important software hasn't yet been rewritten for the Intel processor. In short, Adobe CS II suite...

The MacBook Pro is Apple's first professional grade laptop to sport latest Intel Core Duo processor. It replaces the old Powerbook G4 and outperforms it easily.
The all alluminium design is both easy on the eye and durable, not to mention extremely light and the display is top notch. Producing 1440x900 in just 15.4" is an excellent achievement and easily better my Toshiba P20's 17" screen.
