“AVOID AVOID AVOID!”

The process of switching insurance provider should be straightforward; and it is with any reputable insurer. Barry Grainger will take your money and then over the next few weeks will plague you with requests for more and more documentation. they'll call you to review everything youve said about yourself and your car and driving history, and will then send you a summary of that (the 'proposal form') with a whole bunch of errors on it. Good Afternoon,

I am sorry to hear that you have had cause to complain regarding the service received and I can confirm that I have had the opportunity to review your comments, however I am unable to review your file and provide an explanation for incorrect documentation provided and would ask if you could contact me directly to discuss your complaint in further detail.

By ensuring that we fully validate each application for insurance (hence the request for documents) we reduce the risk of exposure to our insurers as well as the risk of having any claim repudiated by the insurer for any careless or deliberate misrepresentation, which could result in the voidance of a policy, or increased premiums and terms.

Unfortunately we do not have access to the DVLA records currently although I would advise that this will shortly be changing with the introduction of the ‘My Licence’ scheme which will allow us access to more information such as conviction history and No Claims entitlement meaning that we will hopefully require less documentation from our clients.

I would like to discuss this complaint with you, to resolve some of the issues you have had. If you could contact the office at your earliest convenience, I hope to sort this out. I would again like to apologise for the errors and the service you have received.

Dear Caitlin - I received a very cheap quote from your company and was about to sign up but I've yet to read a single good comment about you guys. This one response to a disgruntled customer simply reads like too little too late. If it was the odd few bad reviews then fair enough, but there are literally hundreds and hundreds of bad reviews. Thank God I did a quick bit search - you guys sound like the anti-christ of insurance!

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that you have chosen not to insure via us on this occasion. We have only recently joined the review centre in order to be able to respond to clients who leave comments and we will now be looking to try and address any problems which are left on here. “Worst insurance company ever”

This is probably the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with - I work in insurance (not car) my girlfriend took a policy out with them and had nothing but trouble, ignored emails, ignored phone calls and letters - documents apparently not received and after a month of issues and supposedly missing documents policy was cancelled and over £100 lost but worth it to not be stuck with them for another day after they tried to increase policy cost by another £80 for rediculous reasons… Read Full Review

It took 12 costly phone calls + emails during two weeks of hassle to get my car insurance changed to a similar car but a different make. At one time I was driving my original car without cover nine days before the actual switch-over date. Only found out they had cancelled my policy when querying a confusing phone message. “Customer service without standards”

Had my policy for 8 months, wanted to amend my policy as I was renovating a vw t4 transporter. I told them I had fitted a new stereo and a thatchem cat 1 alarm, and I wanted to put load baring alloys, also add a bench seat in the rear and I was told that this was totally UNACCEPTABLE. Not we will try and find a new policy or amend mine just unacceptable.... I was happy to pay a premium.... T4rus insured me for less and I have doubled the value of my pride and joy. “Agree with most of others Shocking Service”

Had a quick scan at what others were saying and totally agree.... 6 months after being insured they lettered me saying they were going to terminate my insurance as I had not provided them with information (vehicle mileage and photo copy of a licence) I had to point out that it was all emailed to them, then they confirmed they had it. I've never trusted reviews but I so wish I had followed my instincts and other peoples reviews. If I could give less than 1 star I would. BG are terrible! From my experience of buying car insurance with them I can verify everything that is said by others rating 1 star is correct.... “Terrible Company-avoid ”

Paid for full insurance policy for the year - whilst away on holiday they telephoned requesting proof of No claims bonus - as no response from me they then wrote to advising they would cancel the policy in 7 days. Sorted this out, now 2 month into policy again today a further letter advising will cancel in 7 days as not received copy of driving licence - why do they need it? Ive had constant emails, phone calls, letters and even text messages telling me my van insurance is due for renewal despite informing them twice over the phone and twice by email that I no longer own the van and requesting my no claims certificate that I am legally entitled to. “Appalling service with hidden costs”

I went with BG Insurance for my car insurance in April as it seemed to be the best value for money; legal protection, breakdown cover, courtesy car all as standard for a really competitive price. Oh how silly was I... Hassle in third month: I had paid for my insurance and sent all documents asked for. Three months later, asking me to pay another £70 or else they will cancel my insurance. But no reason was stated in the letter for extra charges. I had to contact to find out for myself as to why I should pay extra. I was told that I had given incorrect information i.e. the length of my driving experience.

I honestly believe this company pretends to give customer a cheap insurance at first instant quote and later adds on more ££££ which frustrates customer like myself. I would not recommend this BG Insurance to anyone

Been a nightmare since day one. They take your money then say that they are canelling your policy because you havent called them to confirm your details- i just did when i bought the insurance! Then when you do call they dont have anyone available and say they will call you back - of course they never do and just say they are cencelling your policy agian. Had my Insurance for the last year through Barry grainger. I also had to make a claim for the first time and the whole process was handled smoothly and easily. The approved repairers were also top quality. They do request a lot of information when taking the policy out and after reading previous reviews I called the company to confirm that they were all received and I have had no problems. I only relised this was required when i recieved my first cancallation notice. I tried on 5 occasion to speak to them to confirm i had not missed anything out. After being on hold for more than 20 mins i gave up. Last occasion i phone and it was answered with 2 mins, shocking.
I also got in touch with trading standards to let them know i sent my addition info via tge bg addressed second ckass envolope and let the girl on the phone BG know that too.
Never had to do anything more that ncb info in 20 years. Arsehols

Not a fake review. Just saying I did have a decent experience, though perhaps I am in the minority. I have never had to send so much information for insurance before but I just sent them by email so there was no chance of them getting lost. They have always been pretty sharp in answering calls when I've rang, but sometimes the staff could maybe do with sounding a bit more cheery!
