“hardcore selling”

Written on: 08/12/2014 by Gordon413 (1 review written)

if you dont take legal protection insurance and all other add ons they will add fear on for free (illegal I believe to use fear) older people or less determined people may fall victim to this. Had i read these reviews earlier i would have went for the next cheapest. I will make sure to send proof of no claims recorded delivery as I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate in cancelling policy whilst helping themselves to to healthy adminstration charges. additionally one said didnt require proof of ncb as… Read Full Review

They take your money , then send you imaginary letters asking for proof of no claims, then when you dont receive these imaginary letters, they cancel your policy and take £100 plus in admin fees. Rude customer service advice… Read Full Review

“Lazy, sloppy, devious”

Written on: 11/09/2014 by jvMcFadden440 (1 review written)

I had a quote off them earlier this year and although I had no intention of proceeding with the quote as it didn't beat my renewal from LV they sent me a letter saying that the full cover premium was "overdue". HA ! I phoned them and politely expressed my displeasure and asked them not to write to me again except with a letter of apology which explained how such a thing could happen. Needless to say I never received an apology and therefore have to draw my own conclusions on how it came to… Read Full Review

“aggressive marketing tactics - steer clear”

Written on: 11/06/2014 by guestguest12345 (1 review written)

Never been a customer, but they got my details when I rang them for a quote a few years ago. Just had a cold call from them. I stated I didn't want to receive calls from them and asked to be taken off their database. The woman ignored me and asked about my insurance. I repeated my request and she ignored me again and just carried on with her script of quesitons. I put the phone down and went to register my displeasure on their web site, only to discover their site was down. I've also noticed… Read Full Review

“SHAMBLES!”

Written on: 01/03/2014 by Ross188 (1 review written)

have been with Castle Cover for 4years and our home insurance has risen from over £200 to £900 . This was then amended to £700 without giving me any reason. I have had to make a series of complaints to them this year due to numerous errors on their part and this is still on going with yet another mistake in their last letter to me- one saying that at no time have they told us that their APR is 19.9% and it was quoted IN THE VERY letter they sent me in that instance!!!It seems they do NOT… Read Full Review

“If your not working Castle Cover won't quote you!! ”

Written on: 29/01/2014

I called Castle Cover to obtain a quotion for my car insurance. Everything was going fine until they asked me about my employment, I said I was not working at the present moment. The operator asked me what I was doing. I said that I'm a lady of lesuire. He went away to speak to a colleague and came back to tell me that as I was "unemployed" they could not quote me. I protested and said I do not see myelf as "unemployed" as I am lucky enough not to have to work. He insisted that I was… Read Full Review

Their rates msy be marginally better than the competitors bur you have a problem, BEWARE. I I have a complsint and am csrefully following the procedure laid down in Castle Cover's policy document. From the start they threatened to hand over my case to a debt collecting agent, and they did, even while I was in process of contacting the Insurance Ombutsman - as lsid down in their policy conditions. The amount demanded was only £19 so I paid under protest to the debt collectors in order to… Read Full Review

They don't comunicate between themselves... I called to say that my Mother had died & house would be unoccupied as i was living abroad.. That was 3 months ago, today I called to say that tenants would be moving in and to chage the policy for house only & not any more contents.... They did nothing... And then because I live outside the U.K will close down every thing as they don't want to deal with me anymore...I have an agent with full management , so what's the problem? “Cancellation Charges Robbery”

This company wants to charge a cancellation fee of £26.00 when my previous policy was due for renewal less than 24 hours ago and I had not given my acceptance for the renewal!. Their reason being that I paid by Direct Debit! which I do no recall setting up as I paid Fully by Credit Card. Has anybody had the same problem with this Company? I would appreciate any comments. … Read Full Review

After being with Castle for Home contents insurance for roughly 3 months we had to move house. I rang them to tell of our change of address and at the end of the conversation she said that will be £25 to amend that policy.. what a rip off.. I then said I would cancel the policy and she said that will be £35 to do that. Can't wait till the year is up then I can go back to Saga again… Read Full Review

“Never never ever”

Written on: 16/06/2013

Please, please do not ever use this outfit. My car was hit whilst stationary. Nothing done until a childish 7 year sounding giggling employee misdialed and contacted me rather than the responsible individual to confirm that the were trying to persuade me to admit 50% liability!! Guess they were hoping to multiply my premium x 20 next time round. A highly unprofessional outfit. Save yourselves the worry and go elsewhere… Read Full Review

“AVOID ”

Written on: 17/03/2013

If I had read these reviews before I bought home insurance from Castle Cover I would have never insured with them. I always pay for insurance in one go by debit card. I was initially pleased with the quote and after a year was ready to shop around again as their renewal quote was excessive. I was shocked to discover that they had auto renewed my policy by a Direct debit that I had neither set up or agreed to. We have had nothing but trouble with this company. The staff were rude and… Read Full Review

“DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY”

Written on: 13/03/2013

I paid for house insurance with this company for my mum she then had a phone call to say it hadn't been paid she then paid again. I then was on the phone for over one and half hours trying to get my money back, they have said they hadn't received payment but its on my credit card statement I have had to pay for that and go to another company to get my insurance so I have paid twice for it. I would not have given any stars if I could have. They have been no help and as far as I am concerned they… Read Full Review

“House Insurance. Pushy Sales People. How to get rid of...”

Written on: 13/11/2012 by Chrisb61 (4 reviews written)

I don't know wether they recruit smarmy sales staff or train them up. But, NO, doesn't appear to mean anything to them. I have tried all sorts of tactics to get rid of them. I hope my latest effort works!!!. Their website gives a number for complaints, 0845 845 5550. I rang it and got through to sales, brilliant. The young lady who answered my call said, she would put me through to Customer Service, I said, please give me their number before you put me through, which she did, 0800519 1020… Read Full Review

“Home Insurance Quote”

Written on: 30/10/2012

Tried for a quote online. Not competitive but they rang me and said they don't quote their best prices online so competotors don't price match. So if i'd have clicked buy now I would have paid a higher price. No response! Then he managed to save me £1.80 on the year which was for a payment in full but if I wanted to pay monthly it went up by £30 plus. Then told me off for allowing him to 'work his fingers to the bone' contacting 8 companies to obtain a £1.80 saving! I have his name but will… Read Full Review

Have just experienced similar with a female agent. Am currently with Castle Cover, renewal came through £54 higher than last year (no claims made) inviting me to renew. Then came the phone call!! I stated many companies offering more for less, so am looking around and immediately my renewal was dropped to last years premium - ie a drop of £54 which I'd have paid if I'd just "renewed". I am now trying to get them off my back...they are asking me to justify why I'm hesitating to renew with them...yeah right!!

you'll find that the majority of Companys increase renewal prices but can discount to match other prices , this term is called "price matching" and is used with all insurers , this does not apply only to castle cover
