The Killers, Tranquilize is the first single to be released of their new forth coming album Sawdust. Although the majority of tracks on this album have been released before as b sides this is the first as a stand alone track. Tranquillize has had a lot of press lately due to Lou Reed doing guest vocals on it, so with the hype, does it live up to our expectations?

On first listen it is very industrial and although there is some reminiscent of the disco pop from the Hot Fuss days this is very far and few between. The lyrics are not that good either (I have posted them below so you can make your own mind up) they seem very disjointed and unconnected. Needless to say it is not my favourite track but just like all other Killers songs they do have a certain staying power and I believe that it wont be long before this number catches on and will be the beginning of a new dawn for Brandon and the boys.

    Tranquilize

Time it tells living in my hometown
    Wedding bells they began easy
live it down baby dont talk that much
baby knows that baby don't tease me
In the park we could go walking
drown in the dark we could go sailing
    on the sea
    always here always on time
close call was it love or
    was it just easy
    money talks
when people need shoes and socks
steady boys I think that she needs me
I was just sippin on something sweet
    I don't need political process
I got this feeling that they're gonna break down the door
I got this feeling that they're gonna come back for more
see I was thinking that I lost my mind
But it's been getting to me all this time
And they don't stop dragging me down
    Silently reflection turns
    my world to stone
patiently correction leaves us all alone
and sometimes I'm a- traveling but tonight
    This engines failing
And I still hear the children playing
Kick the can pin the tail skip and play jacks steal a car and ring around rosie
rock and roll candyland boogieman, run away and give me your sneakers
Acid rain When Abel looked up at cain
    we began weeping and wailing
hurry high pestilence pills and pride
It's a shame we could have gone sailing
but Heaven knows heaven knows everything
    tranquilize
I got this feeling that they're gonna break down the door
I got this feeling that they're gonna come back for more
See I was thinking that I lost my mind
but it's been getting to me all this time
and you don't stop dragging me down
    silently reflection turns my
    world to stone
patiently correction leaves us all alone
and sometimes I'm a- traveling but tonight
    this engines failing
I still hear the children playing
Dead beat dancers come to us and stay
cause I don't care where you been
and I don't care what you seen
We're the ones who still believe
and we're looking for a page
in that lifeless book of hope
where dream might help you cope
where the bushes and the bombs
    uh huh tranquilize
