We came, we saw, we stayed! having arrived at the beginning of May for a short stay with our 34 foot RV we have been so impressed by this site that we are still here on the 11th September. It has been a terrific base for our house searching activities and the only reason we will leave in a couple of weeks is because we found our permanent place in the sun. There's good dog walking in the local area, fun things to do in Montguyon and the owner couldn't have been more helpful. It is peaceful,... (read more)

It was just lovely to be able to sit and relax and not worry if my son was bored because there was loads for him to do and see and Beau Vallon which is literally five minutes up the road is a beautiful swimming lake. The restaurant there did really nice value for money meals so all in all a brilliant trip and the owner is going to e-mail us if there is anything good going on so we can pop down for the weekend. We thoroughly recommend the campsite (the best we have ever been too) and of... (read more)

With the initial plan only to stay one night at La Motte on our way down through France we ended up staying 5 days in the wonderful company of the owner and his friends and other camping guests. It was one of the absolute highlights of our vacation! This camping is definitely worth keeping a eye on as they have some grand plans for expanding the site. (read more)

Having stayed in many campsites in Ireland, England and in the Isle of Man in our camper my wife and 4 kids have not come across one as well run clean and as safe as La Motte. We never locked the camper or brought anything in while we stayed there. The toilets and shower blocks are cleaner than any 5 star hotel. Of all the places we have camped in it is the one that me and my family are really looking forward to returning to very soon. Plenty of space for the camper and more besides. The... (read more)

We would just like to say that it was a huge pleasure meeting some of the staff. They were great hosts and there was nothing they would or could not do to make our stay such a relaxing one. The site is of outstanding beauty with tranquill surroundings and we will definately be returning to stay and to see our new friend. Well done. (Only wished we stayed longer) (read more)

We did lots of cycling - good countryside around Charente Maritime and plenty of places to aim for. We also did much more socializing than we normally do thanks to a great family atmosphere on the site but this was not intrusive on our peace and quiet. Chris has lots of plans for the site and we will definitely try to get back and see the progress. (read more)

This is an excellent site, not far from the N10 so an ideal stopover if traveling further south. It's also a good base for day trips to the Atlantic coast, and to towns such as Bordeaux, Libourne, Blaye, and Bergerac (the list is endless). Plus the vineyards of St Emilion and Pomerol are also nearby.
It is surrounded by beautiful countryside - vineyards and farms - and the quiet country roads are ideal for walking or cycling. A few minutes drive takes you into the small town of Montguyon,...

Charente Maritime camp-site is easy to find. It has excellent facilities and is open all year. We were made very welcome by the staff who are always willing to help if they can. The local towns of Montguyon and St Aigulin offer basic shopping facilities, banks and post offices. Good site to base yourself for days out in Cognac, Royan, Saintes, Bordeaux and for tourist attractions in the Dordogne. Not too far from the motorway but a quiet and peaceful site. (read more)

This is a superb site nestled in the gorgeous French countryside. I cannot think of a better place to relax and chill out. The site owner is the most helpful and obliging guy I have ever come across, nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are first class, shower block spotlessly clean, etc. I would recommend this site to anyone. (read more)

Easy going site, kept well and has security at night. The owner is very pleasant and has a wealth of local knowledge. Good toilet facilities include disabled. There is a small shop and bike hire. The owner is looking to enhance the facilites at the site and looking to become Eco friendly...watch this space. Some pitches uneven, but apart from that we had a great time. (read more)

Hadn't been to Southern France or Charente Maritime, where La Motte is, before and travelled across most of France via PARIS courtesy of my daft tom tom satnav. I think the owner was wondering if we would ever get there as we should have arrived about dinnertime but got there about 6.30 ish.
If you are looking to recharge your batteries in the heart of the Southern French Countryside in a friendly relaxed atmosphere, then look no further.
La motte is nestled in between pretty villages and...
