    Good Points: Slim,good looking (like myself!) reletivly easy to use (came without manual and worked it out in half an hour) and hasn't let me down (so far)


    Bad Points: The main problem is that it will only record from an external source (ext2 for the cable set top box) via the timer.If you wanted to record something instant it will only work with the T.V antenna.As the antenna system is to be obsolete in two years it seems daft to have this as the default setting! Also the slimline shape means it is longer in depth and subsequently sticks out from my other appliances.Also is slow in action!


    General comments: Philips DVDR3450H review - I have to admit-this was not bought new. It came from cash converters but many people will see these sold cheaply and will be the first HDD machine they own.I have a suspicion it will also not be their last!

    See bad points. Have now finally got my money back from Comet who acknowledged that they'd had a lot of problems with Philips DVD/HDD recorders which is why they stock so few now (1 when I looked just now). Have swapped it for a Sony - heaven! It works, it's quick, responsive, starts instantly, etc, etc. I will never buy a Philips product again. (good shavers mind you).
