I've had this vacuum for a while now and although it was good at first I need desperately to find a new one. First point. The 2000w does provide good suction, but only with the tools. The main part of this looses suction easily through noise and heat. Second point. If you want to pick up pet hair or lint from socks etc, then you have to go over it more than a few times, which is not easy considering how heavy it is, you might as well use a brush, or as I have many times, do the whole house... It is a waste of money!!! i have had mine for 3 months and as i have read here and else where you would be better off with a brush and dust pan!! I have a lurcher dog and he does not leave that much hair but this hoover still manages to leave more on the floor. The filters block all the time and the only way to improve the suction is to take it apart and wash all the filters and turbo!!! defeats the idea of it being a hepa grade hoover. I should have realised the first time that i used it... (read more)

I've owned one of these cleaners for about two years now and truth be told it has never been 'brilliant'. Now, aside from leaving what can only be described as 'trails' across the carpet, it has also developed a penchance for simply cutting out. I've cleaned the filters and the cylinder, checked to make sure everything is moving okay but it's simply no good, it's unreliable, lacks power and no, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend. I'm looking for an alternative. (read more)

It seems that every time a customer makes a report about this machine, and gives it an honest grade, somebody jumps in and starts trying to talk the machine up and grade, while having a dig at Dyson.
I have never owned a Dyson before, but since VAX's marketing department regard it as the competition, it must be worth a try.
The VAX suction is good at the start then, after about 2 months it simply makes a hell of a noise like an airplane on the tarmac, but not dust is HOOVERED up!!!!!...

we ahve now had two Vax hoovers and each of them have broken within a short time of getting them. It is always the motor that breaks and it takes a while to realise this, as it still makes the same noise but does not pick up as much hair.
The service support is reasonable, but it is a pain to have to send it away to get it fixed if it is not a simple matter of them sending out a replacement part.
I wouldn't recommend this make and will definitely not be getting another one. the reviews...

I was previously the owner of a £300 piece of junk from Dyson, which claimed all and delivered little. The Vax Turboforce Pet was a fraction of the cost of the Dyson, and delivers the most outstanding cleaning results I've ever had from a vacuum cleaner! Leaves my carpets and rugs looking like new again, lifting every speck of dust and cat hair with it's powerful 2000w suction, cleaning them to within an inch of their life, and fluffing them back up. We have 3 cats, and I can safely say that... (read more)

I would appreciate if someone knows what is happening with my Vax. Refusing to switch on. Then after being left for a week or two it seems to work fine again! I have looked for data weather or not this model has a Safety Cut Off switch but can't seem to get any info. It is a Turbo Force 1700 watt model. I love the vacuum cleaner but this is starting to get to me.
PS I no longer have the instruction manual that was supplied with the Vax.

It's ok, I still preferred my Dyson RIP, the Vax is ok, it looks good and the suction is reasonably powerful and I have two hairy dogs, the hose is a bit of a pain as it pulls the cleaner right up behind you when you're using it, and I found I had to keep changing the carpet pile dial thingy to get suction on the variety of flooring in my house! All in all value for money at £99.00. (read more)

I am disabled and spend life in a wheelchair, so picking up the trail of dirt left behind thisVax Turbo Force Ultra Pet renders it useless. The whole idea of an electric cleaner is that you don't have to use a brush. With this thing you have to sweep up behind it. (read more)

The Vax Turbo Ultra Pet has loads of power and accessories for different jobs, easy to move around and larger flexi pipe than most other models that I have had in the past. Simple instructions (diagrams and step by step writing), very easy to put together, plenty of power to cope with numerous surfaces, turbo tool attachment is spot on for stairs and furnishing. re the person with the hoover that cuts out . sounds like your hoses are blocked in side the machine and its causing the vacum to over heat and cut out (ours did that) clear the blockage and it should return to normal
