I think the Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon III is one of the best value 'shotties' on the market, I shoot sporting, skeet & DTL with 1/2 & 3/4 chokes & it out performs the specialist kit for each discipline.

The Optima multichoke system has the option of extendid chokes & patterns well, good handling & reliable, has a 3inch breach that will accomodate any cartridge from 21/2inch game loads to 3inch magnums. Beretta spares are readily available but it is unlikley you will need any.

brought this Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon III about 7 months ago now and have never looked back!
i don't think i could find a better gun for the money and would deff replace it if something happened to it.
at the time of buying i was tempted to go for the sp 5 which is exactly the same just has colour hardening on the action, so decided to just go for the 3 which im pleased i did, maybe i just got lucky and ended up with a really nice dark and well figured walnut wood which looks much better...
