Bad Points: rusty arches
look after them and they wont let u down!!
General comments: I am a big fan of my Vauxhall Astra Mk2 1.4, I have a 1.8 sri, a 1.3 and a 1.4 amoungst other Vauxhalls. I brought my 1.3 for £50 pounds 5 years ago with no tax or mot. It has passed all mot's since, with no or little work, and is a cracking little car, the best value for money, nippey, and never let me down.
fun2 drive

Strong smell of petrol inside my dual fuel (LPG/petrol) Vauxhall Astra A car ran into back of Astra some weeks ago. Bumper and vent behind it replaced. But still a very strong smell of petrol inside the car SOMETIMES when driving in petrol mode. Not there in LPG mode. Been back to garage 4 times they cannot trace the problem. Anyone got any ideas????????- Read gladysgibbons's review (92 words)

This Vauxhall Astra Mk2 1.4L Family Car is the only car that has ever been sweet to me. When I had an xr2 I had no end of problems with it, I have since owned 2 mk2 1.4 astras and dont think I will leave it until the 2.2 calibra lump goes in and sort the rattles and road noise. (50kgs worth of dynamat) along with my koni adjustables - THIS IS A CRACKING MOTOR FROM ALL ASPECTES.- Read deankelk's review (109 words)

My mark 2 Vauxhall Astra Mk2 1.4L started life as a family car... then I got my hands on it, off came the rear door handles, the rust, the steel wheels, air filter, rear seats, door cards etc. In went two 12s a 2.8kW amp 6x9s front components and cd player... Fully GTE'd now and its cost me next to nothing apart from time and patience and ocasionally persuasion from my friend Mr 14pound hammer. Great car, how many other G reg 1.4's will do 120mph after only £100's worth of bits... sheer cl ...- Read neonpirate's review (126 words)

I have had my Vauxhall Astra Mk2 1.4L (H reg) for 1year,8 month with no problems, apart from water pump and drivedog in distributer which can happen to any car. Good boot space, easy to modify car Which I have done on my own without buying new parts, except for the paint. As u can tell I have no bad points about the astra mk2 1.4i, I love my Astra but it is getting a bit old Im on the look out for another to modify to my needs.- Read george124uk's review (108 words)

Well, Ive had my Vauxhall Astra Mk2 1.4L for just over a month, (J reg 1.4l 5dr) i bought it from auction, for ...£75!! serviced upto 83000, now on 93000 (3000 belong to me) its a crackin motor. i love the front seats, they are really sporty for a car in a bracket for family cars. its engine pulls realy well, the handling is great although i broke a balljoint couple of days after i bort it, had a new 1 on in under 1 1/2hrs (part of the old 1 was still there n DINT want to leave) for £ ...- Read doof1014's review (230 words)

Can't really give this 1.4l Vauxhall Astra Mk2 car a bad word at all. Apart from it's a bumpy rattly ride, it's been the best £500 I've spent... ever! I looked around at other cars and found I couldnt get but a quarter of the options and comfort as the astra. As for reliability, every old car I've owned/driven is usually falling apart, you just have to look for one that's been looked after, the one I own has been through 2 MOTs now with nothing more than a wiper blade needing changing. I bought this Vauxhall Astra Mk2 1.4l car to replace my (very) run down Ford fiesta and discovered that well that was a mistake!!!
Sure for the size of car the engine was good and strong(when of course it didn't break down). It had a very strange habit of stalling for no apparent reason when simply sitting idling at a junction or lifting off the accelerator. It was very difficult to start in the mornings & enjoyed pumping it's oil through the cylinders & out the exhaust on that start. The brake ...- Read Mike's review (193 words and 4 comments)
