Good Points: The price, the wood quality is good and I really like the weight of the gun
Bad Points: No problems with the 1st gun..i liked it so well i bought my wife one in the nickle finish...right out of the box, it would not fire,,took the stock off and looked at the mechanics..parts seem real rough...sprayed moving parts..gun then shot about 1/2 the time..really disappointed in the gun..sent it back to Remington...now waiting to get it back..loved the 1st gun but now i'm a little weiry of if it may fail while hunting...the scope rail is extremely short but hasn't created any problems with the first gun..i don't know if i will trust it when i get it back from Remington...really i'd rather just have my money back.
General comments: I really like the gun..the design is so simple..just like a single shot shotgun...therefore the misfires should not exist...after watching the mechanics work..i noticed that actually the hammer was not releasing to fire but about 1/2 way due to what looks a safety feature that blocks the hammer from falling if the gun is not fully closed......sometimes the "block would move away sometimes it wouldn't.........if remington gets this problem corrected(I know of several other spr18's doing the same thing) i think it is a wonderful gun,much better than the NEF or Rossi.
