I purchased the 770 in February of 2012 because I have always wanted a bolt action rifle. I took it the the range to sight it in and found that the bolt has far too much friction. The box magazine does not feed correctly. I sent it back to Remington for repair and they returned it to me a week later no better than it was when I sent it in. I sent it back a second time and still the bolt scrapes along the receiver and it does not feed properly. When I called Remington the customer service... (read more)

I bought the 770 model last year and besides the bolt sticking, the magazine falls apart. I put it back together to continue hunting but after shooting one bullet at a deer. I walked over to the deer, loaded it up on my four wheeler and took off to camp. Little did I realize that when I was heading out that afternoon, I no longer had the magazine, just the hull, the bottom, the top and the spring are gone. Ruined my hunting. I cannot find one anywhere without having to spend extra money to... (read more)

I bought a Remington 770 308 over the weekend. The purpose for purchasing this gun was as a loaner gun for friends and family that come up to Northern MI. to hunt deer. I did read all the negative reviews and decided to give it a try. I was a owner of a Bait/ tacle /gun business for over nine years. I do own and have worked on much more expensive rifles. I do know the difference between a great gun and a poor gun. After taking this out to my gun range yesterday, I'd say this is a decent... (read more)

Here is what I think of Remington model 770 cal 243. I thought it was a good gun at first it is a Remington. Started to shoot in the back yard then the second shot the back part blew out. It smoked out of the bolt and could hardly move it. The action is totally destroyed. (read more)

I have a 770 in a 300 mag. I thought it would be an improvement of the 710, its not.It has a poor action and a very tricky mag. The best bolt action i have found is the Marlin XL7. I have one in 30-06 and shoot a 1 3/8 group at 300 yards and it has just as smooth of action as a $10,000 gun. It has a 4 round hidden box mag and a free floating barrel. It is the one i think gives savage a little competition. (read more)

I have owened dozens of rifles over the years and shot competitive for several. I sold a .243 because I felt 1.5" groups for a .243 wasn't that great. I had never owened a Remington rifle before but every shooter that I talked to raved about theirs so I thought now is the time for me to buy one. I bought the 770 in .243,came with the scope. I took it to the range with 80gr and 100gr Remington ammo. The rifle was shot from the bench with sandbags and could not get better than a 6" group.... (read more)

My uncle gave me the model 770 in 3006 as a gift after his elk hunt in Colorado. When he first bought the rifle he wanted me to sight it in for him and for me to try it out deer hunting. I found the rifle to be a tack driver and was able to sight it in with only 10 rounds at 100 yards with 1 inch group. I was stunned at the accuracy of this cheap rifle. The rifle killed a nice 3 point buck with a Core Lock 165 grain bullet. Now I have to get critical. The rifle is heavy and cheap looking.... (read more)

Biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased. Bought the gun in .270 cal. for my son as a beginning hunter. It is fairly accurate but that is the only good thing I can say about it. The bolt sticks all the time and deforms the tip of the bullet when chambering a round. This cost my son a shot at a good buck deer. It is also heavy. For about 200.00 more dollars I bought him and my other two sons the weatherby vanguards. Well worth a little extra money and they're great guns. Remington makes... (read more)

Okay, So I bought the Rem 770 in a .243 variant about 2 years ago. I have been on 2 hunts with it. First off I love the Bushnell scope that the gun comes with, except for the fact I have to use roughly a box of ammo to get it sighted in every year. Thankfully, it doesn't mess up while I'm in the bush. Secondly, the gun itself shoots very acccuratly. I have taken out 2 deer with it(one a season) so I'm not complaining about that. After that it all goes downhill. The quality of the bolt action... (read more)

I purchased the Remington 770 in 300 win mag 2 years ago, I have since sold it! The scope is low end and required adjustments both mechanically and for accurracy. Once sighted in, accuracy was good. The bolt was stiff out of the box even with oiling. I found the more shoots fired, the stiffer the action became. The bolt stroke was long and flimbsy. Excellent rifle. I have a .300 win mag and love it the bolt was a little rough but as with any rifle you should always clean any gun you by before you shoot it new or used. I owned this gun for a month, only fired it at the rifle range. I got it sighted in easily, and was shooting good tight groups with it. Then the bolt handle broke away from the bolt where the two pieces had been joined. Now I have to wait for God knows how long, to send the entire rifle back to Remington so they can repair/replace the bolt. I'm not impressed with the construction. The lug and braising used to attach the bolt handle to the bolt doesn't seem sufficient for the intended purpose. (read more)

This is an awesome Remington rifle, I already own 3 of these rifles 243 win, 7mm-08 rem, 300 win mag. All of them are super accurate; no troubles since owning my first one when they were introduced and the action was smooth enough on all my rifles. Cleaning and oiling before using is the only solution to that. Better magazine latch than that of the Remington model 710. Also recoil is a big plus, even on the 300 win mag, most experienced shooters will tolerate. Buy this rifle, you won't regret... (read more)

dude you cant expect to have the quality of a remington 700 series when you are paying $300-$400 less. i have the 770 chambered in .270 and for the money it is a great gun. for less then $300 brand new you cant beat it, all you need to do is grease the bolt and will work great. less then 1" groups at 350 yds. maybe its the operator and not the gun. just sayin
