HTC S730 Preview - Mobile Phones
17 Jan 2008

Summary
htc s730 review: Even though the S730 is one of the few HTC products without a touchscreen, it is probably the first candy-bar style smartphone we've seen that has a slide-out full QWERTY keypad. Plus the S730 has excellent connectivity options.

HTC S730 Windows Mobile Smartphone
20 Jan 2008

Summary
We rather liked its S710 predecessor, so can the S730 impress us just as much?

Verdict
Overall, then, I expected a lot from the HTC S730, but the device didn't deliver. It is certainly an update to consider if you are a fan of its predecessor, but it doesn't draw the attention quite as much as it could do.

HTC S730
17 Jan 2008

Summary
This update to the S710 adds little apart from 3G/HSDPA connectivity. In fact, the S730 is slightly heavier than its predecessor and delivers less battery life. Whether you go for the S730 will depend largely on how much you need 3G.

Pros
3G connectivity with HSDPA, Supports two-way video calling, Slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Accessible microSD card slot

Cons
Bulky and heavy for a smartphone, Moderate battery life

HTC S730

The HTC S730 improves upon its sibling model, the S710, by adding 3G connectivity to its smart phone interface. The Qwerty keyboard is now easier to use, with each key having a raised central area. It also supports two-way video calling and has a ...

Pros
3G connectivity with HSDPA ; supports two-way video calling ; slide-out Qwerty keyboard ; accessible microSD card slot

Cons
Bulky and heavy for a smart phone ; moderate battery life

Verdict
Aside from 3G, this update to the S710 adds little improvement. In fact, the S730 is slightly heavier than its predecessor and delivers less battery life. Whether you go for the S730 will depend largely on how much you need 3G

HTC S730

Pros
WiFi ; Bluetooth ; HSDPA

Cons
A little too chubby for a phone ; QWERTY keyboard needs a redesign

Verdict
So how is the HTC S730 overall?

HTC S730
1 May 2008

Summary
The S730 is the latest incarnation of HTC's popular sliding-keyboard candy bar smartphone. We looked at the previous version (in Orange SPV E650 clothing) in our Smartphone Labs in issue 160 (web ID: 145113), and found it to be a superb phone, albeit ...

HTC S730 Review
29 Jan 2008

Summary
The HTC S730 is the natural progression from the earlier S710, but this time they have added the much sought after 3G option that was missing from the latter. But ...

Verdict
The HTC S730 is a good smartphone but it's heavier and less appealing than its predecessor. We are also concerned about the memory leak problem we experienced during tests. It did not affect performance too much, but running multiple or memory ...

HTC S730
18 Mar 2008

Pros
Build quality, slide out QWERTY keyboard, controls, Wi-Fi, HSDPA-capable, HTC home screen

Cons
No standard 3.5mm headphone jack, somewhat thick and chunky, mediocre camera

Verdict
The S730's QWERTY keypad and controls combined with an excellent design make this a welcome addition to the smartphone market.

If you want something technologically advanced but easy to use with everything in one device. Stop reading and buy one now! The Apple iPhone is very sexy looking with a very native interface. IPod touch is a real bonus as is the iTunes syncing.

Nokia E71
14 Jul 2009

I have now owned and used my E71 for over a year. I bought it within weeks of its launch in Saudi Arabia. I this time I only needed to phone technical support once (and it had been my fault no the phones')

I use Nokia Maps/GPS on my worldwide travels and have found them to be often more accurate than many other sat nav systems. (Especially around Middle East and Europe)

The only negative is the Camera. Like a number of Nokia phones I have owned over the last 10 years i...

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
12 Oct 2009

I got the Nokia 5800 Express Music as an upgrade to my aging Nokia N80 and the fact that I could afford the £18 contract that it came with for free.

My first impressions of the phone were good and that it had a lot of features but the one thing I didn't like was being forced into Sky Sports and the obvious high internet browsing charges that would follow for streaming video to the phone. The cover keeps the screen well protected but if you dropped it the corners are exposed and...
