However recently when i turn the player on it turns off straight away and the end goes blue,i have to wait several minutes before it will turn on, i can listen to a few songs then the same problem will occur. no one ive seen on here has had this problem so im not sure how to sort this out. strange...

Good Points of the samsung yp-u3: Sound Quality Battery Easy Menus to navigate into the songs Bad Points: Is an MTP device, so not every computer recognizes it! It doesn't play m4a files The player is really good, it has a decent battery and a great sound quality if you put DNSE at Rock, but I have a problem with it: Almost all my songs are in m4a files, it doesn't read them, I bought it because it was the only "good" player on the store (Others were disposable players, like Titan or...

do not buy this Samsung YP-U3 1 GB . it is a fantastic mp3 player while it works, but many many people seem to have had the same problem as me with samsung mp3 players in general. one day you will plug your mp3 player into your pc and it will not connect, the pc will recognise it and disconnect it immediately, probably with a message about an mtp driver it needs to install, which consequently it will not be able to find. when you do find it and download it (from the microsoft website) it still will...

I have just bought a Samsung YP-P3 and it has the same driver problem (i.e. the PC stopped recognising it and you cannot find the driver). I was a fan of Samsung, but this has put me off. I can't believe that Samsung have not recognised this fault and put a fix on their website - really rubbish site by the way!

I Loved my U3 and got very attached to it. It has a decent battery life and looks really good with good sound quality... But, yeah... I do think there's something going on with it cos it just randomly stopped working a week after the 1 year warrenty ran out. and to prove it wasn't me that broke it my brothers broke a few days after mine... ...

First of all, the Samsung U3 is a good budget player. I bought this one for my sister, back at christmas and I truly must say, the U3 provides far more than I've expected. The overall sound quality is very good, which (I think can be referred to Samsung's technique called DNSE). Anyhow, the player, itself, is easy carry around and it provides everything neccessary to listen to music but unfortuneletly that's about it. Listening to music is one thing, but controlling your player to play the desired...

My player stopped charging (on different computers I tried) exactly one day after the one year guarantee ran out. With today's technology, I'm very suspicious that it was programmed to stop working after 365 days. I took good care of my player: I never dropped it and it was not damaged in any way. If this is Samsung's way of getting the consumer to go out and buy a replacement product from them, it's not going to work on me, I'm going to buy a replacement player from a different manufacturer....

I think the Samsung YP-U3 1 GB is a slim mp3 player, with a cool looking display, thats blue on black. it can pump out tunes very well, and is quite loud. Feature wise it can play DRM files, and most of the main formats that are AAC, MP3, OGG, and WMA. and all tagging information is supported there as well. The player comes with its own music manager and store called emodio (it was originally called samsung media studio). it's easy to use and does allow you to purchase tracks, and music from it;...

I can see the player on my work PC and it is easy to transfer songs. On my home PC I can't get it working. I've done all the recommended stuff with media player 10, but there must be something else. It is amazing that a company can go to all the trouble of developing and producing such an item and then throw away their customer base by giving no assistance on a major flaw. No more Samsung for me....

My 1 Gig Samsung YP-U3 is very easy to use. I haven't had any problem so far. I owned different disappointing music players before, but this the best one I have tried, so far. Very neat, simple, and straight to the point. Performs what it's made for, and more. No mess, no unnecessary clutter, etc. ...

Bought a Samsung YP-U3 yesterday and the same problems as everyone else. The following worked though (from another trouble shooting web site). 1. Download Windows Media Player 11. 2. Download Windows Media Player 10 SDK. 3. Download mtppk12.exe from Windows Update. Don't ask me why but my lap-top (running XP Professional) now recognises the MP3 as a mass storage device and lets me download tracks to it....

You need to use the Hold switch to lock the keypad if you put it in your pocket - otherwise the keys are likely to be accidentally pressed. I love this player - I bought one for my son (it's probably his 5th or 6th MP3 player in 4 years) and he likes it a lot (other than the limited capacity). It's light, small, easy to operate, easy to load songs with (WMP works just fine), and has very good sound quality. For the price, it's hard to beat. In fact, that's why I bought one for myself - couldn't...

I use a PC (windows XP) and Winamp. For £29 I think this is an excellent mp3 player - I've had 4 others which have died / broken / got lost. This is my favourite. Please, do a search on Samsung YP-U3 driver install BEFORE you buy this. You will find MANY people had difficulty with it and ended up returning it (As I did, and I am far from a computer novice). The complaints are many, please save yourself the headache. Other units must work better than this....

Sadly, I have to agree. I have been looking for a player with OGG support + FM Radio for my wife for ages.

I have most of our music collection in OGG (I have a Cowon X5) so didn't want to duplicate everything. I saw this in a shop and thought it would be nice Christmas present.

Yes, I did read that it only works with XP or Vista, but I never anticipated finding a driver for Win 2K would be impossible.

It seems to all turn on the non-availability of Media Player 10 (or 11) for 2K which supports this device through "Play for Sure". If I had a USB driver which saw it as a flash device, then putting music on it would not be difficult me thinks.

One might also mention that you're stuffed too if you are of the MAC persuasion. My wife... well, she's happy with the FM radio... at the moment -- I think I bought a pig in a poke!
