I originally wanted some cheap webspace and domain name to host my homemade games and blog if i ever eventually got round to it, and also a domain name to point to my existing, virtually unused, blog. “No support whatsoever - domain control panel useless”

I have paid for two website domains for two years with 1&1. When I tried to use these with a different website provider the domain panel won't let me assign the new IP address. “Invoiced after contract cancelled”

I cancelled all my contract with 1 & 1 and then I get an invoice for two more years and they say I have to pay it because the contract was not cancelled at the correct time. They stopped me logging into my account when I cancelled and the call you back page gives an error. I have been having three separate email conversations and none of them have been helpful. I cancelled my free trial but they expected me to pay, so I know where your coming from.
I cancelled my direct debit with them, luckily they've not managed to take money out of my bank account.

I hope you get it sorted, because 1&1 only care about one thing and one thing only $$$

Dont waste your time on the 3 months for free, you will be wasting your time and effort, their customer service sucks. They can not help you at all. That is not their duty to help you as they had informed me. You will be out of luck if you lose a content or missing a file, they wont budge to help you on their upper team. 1 and 1 has to be one of the worst providers of email I have ever encountered; I rely on using 1and1 to send emails to my clients and as a recruitment business it is pivotal clients received the CV's we send out as soon as possible. “WORST Customer Service Ever”

I have used 1 and 1 for 2+years, every year I have an issue. This year, my business has not been able to send emails, EVERY email bounces back. This company works at a snail's pace in relation to other companies. I have another account with Bluehost which is far, far faster. For example, I just had to reset my 1and1 password. Got the reset email, reset the password, and the it did not work. Had to wait 10 minutes before it would work. “Agreed: their customer service is infuriating”

I got started on this with a 2 year free hosting deal- like a decade ago. For years after I payed a small amount (but still too much) to host some crappy, static HTML. Now I've changed banks, and despite my changed billing details, they charged my old, incorrect paypal account. That's is a hassle since I'm living in a different country from the associated bank. “Will Destroy Your Business”

Let's start on a positive. 1and1 are cheap compared to most other hosts. That may seem like a good thing and could potentially work for you if you NEVER, EVER run into any issues. Ive used 1and1 for years. Ive has my run-ins with them but recently tried their MailXchange offering. When it didnt work I got no help from technical support. Do not use this company unless you want poor service, support from un-professional people who are poorly trained and under qualified. “Charged for a Domain I Do Not Own”

Once again 1&1 Internet Ltd in the UK have charged me to renew a domain name I do not own or control. Absolute shambles. The standard response email just tells me how to cancel any domains I own.
