Bad Points: Customer / technical service is a bit slow / non-technical!
General comments: Server uptimePricing Hosting packages
Have 6 domains with these and cant really fault the uptime / pricing / flexibility so far. Well recommend 1and1.co.uk.

I am a .NET developer and work with many different hosting companies. To be honest it's usually a case of "best of a bad bunch". 1and1.co.uk have, to date, been the worst for me! My main issue is support. Having spent 30 minutes on the phone with a support guy I ended up putting the phone down on him. It took the best part of 10 minutes for him to understand that all I wanted to do was to create a folder and upload a file to it (using C#). I do not recommend this company. At first they seemed OK. It was cheap to register domain names. I had a few domains which I didn't want to renew, I searched all the help sections and couldn't find the info and eventually contacted 1and1. They sent me the link to another website altogether. Why don't they put this information on their main website?

I have 20+ sites hosted on 1and1 and am now about to move them all. I have experienced all kinds of problems with ftp access, erratic response, meaningless stats reports, and final straw has been my sites have been inaccessible through various ISPs for 4 days now. Tech Support have been robotic, don't listen and try to shift the problem elsewhere.

I will never use 1 and 1 again and can never recommend them to a friend.
The customer service has been unhelpful and do not know enough about my problem I feel.
Currently we have to go through the expensive process of moving our web service hosting away from 1and1.

Truly unhelpful customer service, I personally felt nearly everytime I talked to them they still didnt understand what my problem was with their web hosting, I cant seem to get anywhere as far as I am concerned, therefore I do not think there is any good points. Therefore I do not recommend 1and1.co.uk.

I have never written about a company before, but these guys made me so angry, I could not take it any more. >First of all, when I had a problem with them charging me for services I didn't even order, they refused to refund me. It took over 2 months and they didn't care, so I stopped paying them. Previously I paid by credit card,2 years later that credit card expired,rather than tell/email me it had expired they just blocked my account and passed it straight to a debt collection agency as far as I am aware? Therefore I do not recommend 1and1.co.uk

I am 6 month with 1and1 and I am so tired with their customer service, they've never helped me. I do not recommend to anyone this hosting company. Now I am trying to find another company, I really hope I will change for better, well recommend 1and1.co.uk.

After purchase, I realised there are no good points, in my experience anyway.8 times out of ten I cannot even view my webspace directory structure. 8 times out of ten my webpage disappears as far as I am aware, if my domain does not even exist.
I do not recommend www.1and1.co.uk.

Setup a dedicated server with them. It was fine for two weeks then had a hardware fault.
I spent ages chasing them up asking what was happening. Took about 1 month for them to get the server back online!

No problems with server uptime (to date) and I think it is just the customer service that needs to be improved... drastically! I am no IT expert so on a positive note I have found the FAQ's actually very helpful. I guess at the end of the day there will always will be problems with customer support as there are with all multi national companies, just very annoying!

Frequent downtime of website and many, many lost emails. When I upgraded the package to a managed server, they took over a month to do it but instead of saying at the outset that they did not have the equipment, they pretended that the site had been upgraded and eventually it emerged that it had not been. When it was changed to a managed server, they did it without notice and the web site crashed.

I've had a 1and1 hosted website for more than 5 years, but I still don't fully understand all that 1and1 appear to offer! (A '1and1' for dummies would help :) )I've been happy (so far) with my site as i built it using a template, but now I'd like to add more services to it (e.g. MP3 downloads) I've come unstuck. When it come to cancellation, 1and1 as far as I am aware have still not done it, even I send a request and said that I follow their direction to cancel one of the service, but I still got billing. I refuse to pay for the service I'd like to cancel. 1and1 shut down all my service, including the one I already pay and still under contract for a few more months as far as I am aware?... After shutting down one of my servers for the sending a subscribed customer newsletter I tried to get through to someone to rectify the problem. As far as I am concerned it took 2 days before I was able to get a response from the server department. The level 1 support was unhelpful in my opinion.I would never use 1and1 again. Snazzy full page ads in the press but possibly the worst customer service I've ever received! I do not recommend www.1and1.co.uk.

Really Unhelpfu customer service in my experience, I ended up spending more money and time trying to deal with their staff. If I don't renew a domain name without canceling, they send me a letter. I do not recommend www.1and1.co.uk.
