The Garmin Nuvi 250W has been the biggest waste of £170 I think I have ever spent. It has been literally worse than useless, unable to locate signals for sometimes several hours and then losing the signal with the familiar and depressing "lost satellite signal". It's not possible to give a product any stars whatsoever if it won't do what it was purchased for - to navigate. My wife bought a TomTom and it is superb, locating satellite signals within seconds even when indoors, whereas the Gar ...

Really easy to use, gives you plenty of time before a junction, this is much better than the tom tom i had before which broke after a short time, would definitely buy a Garmin again, my husband has just brought the 255 model with EU

The sad thing is the garmin nuvi is a great looking little unit. I like the size, the weight, it was easy to use and looked great on the windscreen. Unfortunately the mapping, among many other things, was horrendous!
    - the map routing left me with serious doubts. I drove on roads that I'm not even sure were fit for cars. I now see where all the stupid 'I nearly drove off a cliff in the dead of night' stories come from.
    - the verbal instructions weren't timely enough (either too late or too ea ...

The Garmin nuvi is the worst piece of electrical kit I have ever had. Work gave me this one which it why it is still intact today, I would have driven over it a long time ago if I had brought it.

It can't find a thing, I have been though 3 chargers, the options are terrible, it tells you to stay on the motorway at every junction as if you were 6 years old.

In short, DO NOT BUY THIS SAT NAV!

I got a Garmin nuvi 250 to replace a Tomtom. Very disapointed. It has taken me across country a few times avoiding motorways, can't get it to use motorways first. Nearly missed a flight 2 days ago as it decided to take me trough lots of little villages in Holland and Germany, instead of taking the motorway. Please try and imagine the stress in the car with the family at 4 in the morning.

If there were an option to put in minus number in the review I would! There is a function on the Garmin nuvi 250 to take you the fastest and shortest route, more often than not you'll be on single track roads getting stuck behind tractors or on dirt tracks getting stuck behind sheep. Both have happend to me. I was at Birkenhead ferry terminal and thought, how long would it take me to get to Stranraer ferry terminal. The sat nav said go on the ferry to belfast then on the ferry to Stranraer. It w ...

in general Garmin nuvi 250 is 'okay' - it might be my luck to need particular places that aren't accurate. it can go wonky in mid-stream, where I know where I am going but suddenly 'recalculation' occurs. I regularly plug it into my PC and supposedly it needs no updates but i beg to differ

Places of interest very easily downloaded.

Wish it could go straight into postcode search rather than having to select a country first. Having UK instead of England, Wales and Scotland.

I found the Garmin nuvi 250 pretty easy to use, user friendly.

I am a surveyor and make several visits a day all over the North West of England. I think the problem with The Garmin Nuvi 250 is that the postcode data seems to me to be incomplete, it doesn't know about 20% of the addresses I put in and if it does recognise the postcode it seems quite likely to take me somewhere just round the corner. It also has a peculiar method of keying in addresses. So if you just want a satnav to use once in a while to get from one town to another then this is probably o ...

Iam a taxi driver who needs sat nav just about every day. I found the Garmin nuvi 250 quite easy to use compared to the Tom Tom.

The touch screen facily allowing you to find addresses near by and house is excellent but un like the tom tom Garmin seem to be very poor at provinding the map updates.

Extremely user friendly. In general clear concise verbal instructions, backed by clear road map on screen. Device appears well made and durable. We have named our Nuvi 'Garmina'. She took us to the Alps and back avoiding the toll roads. More time taken but a much more pleasant journey. The money saved on tolls, paid for the sat nav. My wife was able to relax, instead of map reading and the projected time of arrival meant that we were able to plan our stops and still arrive in daylight. The route ...

I don't normally leave reviews but I read one review on this site which slated the Garmin nuvi 250 - as it kept telling the driver to get off the motor way at every exit. Well it does do this when its set in "bicycle" mode !! Equally if its set in "pedestrian" mode you might not fit he car down the recommended paths !!! I've driven all around the UK with is unit and its perfect. I also taken it on tour in France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland etc and it navigated perfrectly.

I think my Garmin Nuvi 250 is not fit for pupose. It was unable to locate a hotel in andorra, rubbish instructions regarding safety cameras ie continual buzzing with the wrong information regarding the speed on the motorway in France. It was as if the screen information was refering to the old roads and not the motorway. On coming up through france I was told to leave the motorway at every exit. The only way to Calais was to turn the 250 off.
Am I the only one who doesn't rate sat/navs?

I originally bought a TomTom One, but it had to go back to the shop because it didn't work. The Garmin Nuvi 250 turns out to have been a very good buy.
Finding airports and hotels is easy because they are already on the database. I also found a carpark for a long walk in the North York Moors by entering only the map reference.
Best of all, when driving across central London in convoy with another car using a TomTom, the Garmin navigated me by a different, quicker route. That's blind luck, I know ...

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 250 for my second car, and I think this is one of the best sat navs out, garmin are a quality make and I have tried a couple now [on lone]. Much better than my RAC 200, and some big name brands I have used. The Nuvi locates satelities very fast, even in the middle of my house and is very accurate to. Good battery life 3+ hours. Good routing, never had any trouble getting places or finding them in the search. Unit is well built. Is easy to use, and has a nice clear screen.

Although I liked the screen on my Garmin nuvi 250, ease of programming and loudness of voice, I found it look ages to locate a signal which made it a waste of time if you are starting off from an inner city location.

I bought the Garmin Nuvi 250 to replace the TomTom one that I had before, I was going to buy another TomTom but the salesman at Halfords told me to take a look at the Garmin Nuvi 250 as he said it was a lot more value for money.
I need a sat nav that is reliable, fast and easy to use and hard wearing as I use it every day for my locksmiths business.
Compared to the TomTom I had before this Garmin really is in a different league, it is smaller, stronger, easier and faster to use and the mount is ...
