Good Points: works well enough but if I want to go to france it looks like I shall have to use my Garmin

Bad Points: cannot get hold of tomtom on the internet

General comments: The tomtom company is very elusive I asked a question had a reply that was not a bit of good, All i want to know is why the maps that I was told about are not on my go 520 it how ever a refurbished one but the write up said that western europe was on the item and it is not

have had this Tom Tom Go 520 sat nav for some time now and has not caused me a problem yet, sometimes it does take me down a wrong road but i am still to see a sat nav yet that doesnt do that. All the features on it work fine with my radio and phone. I am a heavy user of a sat nav and this has been the best one i have ever had. 10/10

Do not buy a Tom Tom, I have been trying to get support for mine for nearly 5 months, they are completely useless and now trying to blame my mobile phone, when it is the same one I have always used, even when the tom tom worked ok. The device keeps switching off and the support people haven't got a clue. Its all ok when it works, but as soon as you need to contact support you don't stand a chance.I am also paying for traffic info but this isnt working and they will not refund my yearly subscript ...

I am returning the Tom Tom Go 520 to where it was purchased as cannot wait any longer for customer service to resolve the problem. Shame as generally I was happy with the product. Loved the tom tom, especially as can use hands free facility with mobile phone, not impressed with tom tom home. Tried to update maps through tom tom home it has wiped out all of my maps, so can no be used. Tom tom customner service dont seem to know the answer and have said will get back to me????

This has got to be the most unreliable bit of electronics that I have ever purchased.
It is very glitchy. The speaker options work intermittently, the FM transmitter works intermittently. After updating on line the update was supposed to give a more accurate global positioning, now every time I pass a lay-by it shows that I drive in it, not the end of the world but very annoying.
The battery died after 6 months and was replaced under warranty.
The charged died shortly afterwards and was replaced ...

Easy to use, regular web updates. Owners can send in their corrections, and you have the option of subscribing to live traffic updates via tomTom or just stick with the ones that the radio broadcasts.
I'd recommend it. The user-contribution updates are good. I'd like a shortcut button to automatically pick an alternative route instead of having to go through a few menu options, though.

Well recomended by me as I use is every day in my job. Easy and simple to use, the wide screen is fantastic, 3 dimensional view and zoom in and out are very practical to avoid the traffic and find short cut, gps pick up the signal very fast.

After hours of research will definitely buy Garmin opposed to Tom TomPhoned Garmin offices for technical details for length of antenna etc. and got straight through with clear and kind help. The screen on Tom Tom has unnecessary details when you are travelling thus taking your attention.

When asked to update TomTom Home the maps on my TomTom 520 were wiped. It took days to get a reply by e-mail, pointless trying to phone as you are just kept on hold until office hours end. Have no choice but to send it to Tom Tom office, had enough of waiting for someone to help sort out a problem of their making.

I recommended the Tom Tom GO520 and TomTom 720 to all my friends and they are all extremely happy with it. As a former map user I can honestly say that I'm never going back to a map again.

Easy to use but the deeper I got into the functions the more confusing the software got. Does the basics well.
Got me lost twice. Only used it 5 times!!! Locked up a few times after entering post codes. Wouldn't recommend. TomTom overated.

I really liked this sat nav - easy to use and nice and clear. Two units failed however, so I decided to go for a Garmin, which I'm still getting used to.

First time used told us to turn right at a major junction, should have been left, does not do what it says on the box. Also expected to receive 1 year updates of traffic camera alert, told no, that it was a one off download. When asked to speak to supervisor I was told not policy to hand calls to supervisor, when asked for telephone number of Head Office, told they don't give out the information. Will not buy again and will recommend friends to go elsewhere or buy a map.In my opinion it is not w ...
