I found my Tom Tom Go 720 locks up, wont reboot, shuts down when it feels like it and blue tooth drops out and won't reconnect. Have sent it back to Tomtom. They wrote back saying no fault found - Every time I use it I'm not sure quite what it's going to do next. Also worth knowing tomtom are very unhelpful and Curry's Electrical aren't prepared to swap the unit, refund or allow me to pay the extra to upgrade, even after the second return.

The Tom Tom Go 720 has a good screen, reasonably easy to use, instructions are quite clear and map accuracy is pretty good. Pretty good overall, as mentioned, the sucker is the main issue but overall Id recommend it - its just a shame that something as simple as how it sticks to the windscreen lets it down. The sucker ALWAYS falls off the windscreen which is very, very annoying, particularly if you're driving down the motorway and it comes off the screen and falls onto the floor - not the safe ...

Probably one of the better sat navs out there. The map isn't good for newly built up areas but that is an issue with tele atlas rather than tomtom itself.Mapshare is more of a gimmick rather than an useful function. Can only report missing roads. Can not update the maps manually to show the missing roads. Hopefully mapshare will prove to be more useful in the future.. but dont hold your breathe.

The TomTom Go 720 is my first GPS unit, and I really like it. The bad points are that much of the Alberta map is inaccurate, especially in rural area's, where it would be especially nice to find an address. Some area's don't even show up, like the rural sub-division I live in. The cities seem ok for accuracy, but even the main highway between Edmonton-Calgary is off a great deal of the time. In smaller towns you are often a whole block off as far as street locations go.
    I recently travelled rig ...

I totally agree with this gentleman, after sales although polite does not resolve any repair issues. The TomTom software is probably what caused all the trouble with me, and to cap it all it corrupted my backup as well.
Now they tell me I will have to pay for a new map. On something that is 2 months old is a bit of a joke.
Thinking of getting a garmin or summat else instead.

Problems with the TomTom Go 720 shutting down (started after first computer update). Now it won't turn on properly. If TOMTOM can sort this software issue out then this would be a brilliant piece of kit.

Not impressed, my phone would not pair with the Tom Tom Go 720 - one minute it would be OK the next not! It would randomly switch destinations and switch itself off halfway through a journey!

Generally on my TomTom Gop 720, the bluetooth connection with my Nokia N95 is too unstable and it does not support sms as it was promised.
I would not buy a TomTom until they can fix this problem.

My Tom Tom sat nav couldn't find my postcode, nearest it would locate was six houses down the road. Had to use "current GPS" as home address. When recording own voice there is no volume control so can only increase volume by shouting!
I asked Tom-Tom if it still warned of speed cameras if only tracking your position, they said no, well it does! First impressions favourable.

If you live in Alberta, Canada or plan to navigate through this region you will be disappointed with the Tom Tom Go 720. After much frustrating communication with Tom Tom support they finally told me that they have known accuracy problems in Alberta. This was only after I had sent my unit in for repairs which did not solve the issue. The unit often locates you on the wrong street and as a result gives the wrong navigation. An inaccurate GPS is a useless GPS.

Overall the Tom Tom Go 720 is a disappointing product exacerbated by wrong information given by TomTom. The saleman demonstrated that I could receive sms messages on the 720 and that these would translated into speech. What he didnt know was that the SonyErricson he was demonstrating with was the only mobile that would do this. The TomTom website gave my Nokia 6280 as compatable but it wasn't. The shop was very sympathetic and gave me a total refund.
I found that the unit constantly gave me wron ...

The Tom Tom website lists cell phones that are compatible converting text to speech for incoming sms messages. This list included Nokia 6280 but I can't get mine to work. The only cell phone that I did get to work was a Sony Erricson. Halford's were very fair and gave me a total refund. After trying various SatNav systems, personally, I think they are more trouble than they are worth.

The Tom Tom Go 720 has great potential but seriously flawed.
This is a beta product which should not be on the market.
If fully functional this would be a great unit, but its not.
    Over promises and under delivers.
Would you buy a toaster that can't make toast?

I bought a Tom Tom sat nav after owning a Becker system. I am selling it because the route the unit chooses are not correct and changing them is tiresome. I am glad to see the back of it. Back to Becker for me.

Seen a few negatives and past experience with Tom Tom made me nervous but my Tom Tom Go 720 arrived and with some trepidation I linked it to my PC to update and it was seamless, worked a treat. Couldn't download the latest map under their "guarantee" but hopefully Tomtom will sort me out.
In the car all worked well, the windscreen holder people talk about is fine, small neat and it works well, not half so bulky as the last one.
Hands free worked ok as did the music through the speakers, OK yo ...
