“I bought my iTouch about 2 years ago, and I really did...”

★★★★☆

written by rupal2 on 05/07/2011

I bought my iTouch about 2 years ago, and I really did think it was great. It had all the functions of an iPhone, minus the ability to send a receive calls. I used to use it everyday, to listen to music, play games, wake me up, or just to note down things I needed to do. But then something tragic happened. I decided to charge it (as you do) and the screen turned white. As yet I have still not managed to get it fixed, as Apple have decided to charge me £100 for this service. The iTouch is worth the money, if it doesn't die.

“3rd generation ipod touches are quite different...”

★★★★☆

written by Erialc Ttemmah on 20/04/2010

3rd generation ipod touches are quite different depending on the capacity. The 8gb version has exactly the same hardware as the 2nd generation and is therefore the same as the 8gb 2nd generation ipod touch. However, the 32gb and 64gb version have different hardware and Apple says that they can be up to 50% faster. My 32gb model is fast, attractive and a great investment. My only real issue is that it needs to be in a WiFi zone to use the internet and lots of apps. Therefore, apps such as "Toilet Finder" do not work when you are out and about. Also, the chrome back is a scratch magnet! BUY A CASE AND SCREEN PROTECTOR TO PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT. Overall, I think it is quite good value for money as you can get loads of free apps. Really good product.

Although the Apple I-pod Touch seems like it is something out of a new Sci-fi film- it still manages to get you addicted. My mother- who is out of touch (to say the least) with technology, recently got one and loves it! It's all about getting to know it, and to love it.

the iPod touch is beautful, smart and well worth its price. i got mine five months ago. unfortunatey, it is absolutley covered in scratches! not the screen bit, thats practically unscratchable, just the back, it really spoils the look. perhaps if you purchased a cover, that would help :)

“The Apple iPod Touch Sound quality is great when...”

★★★★★

written by samborambo on 11/04/2009

The Apple iPod Touch Sound quality is great when listening on an ipod dock or my cambridge soundworks 5.1 speakers but when playing through a large PA system, if you are being very, very fusy, it sounds slightly lower quality. It isn't like a nano were you can just throw it in your pocket or drop it without worrying about it getting damaged. This is definately a great MP4 Player. I would recommend it to anyone however, if you would like an MP3 player for pure sound quality, I would consider a Nano or maybe an iRiver.

I've got Apple iPod Touch now and i'm loving it.!
I use iplayer from BBC always. I use to download the files from iplayer and the biggest problem is!!! I can't put the files from the iplayer in my ipod! Good design, speaker. The only bad point is the FLAC FILE. I can't believe this.

I purchased the 16Gb iPod Touch recently to replace my Ipod Mini. This could possibly be the greatest gadget ever! I've never used a touch screen that is so natural to use and doesnt induce frustration. When encoded properly video is incredible and can be watched for long periods without eye strain.
Audio is similarly well catered for, album art and great menus make navigating your albums a delight. The Classic may have the better storage but not the fun factor of the Touch, other mp3 player manufacturers might as well give up.

“I first got my iPod Touch 8GB on a spending splurge...”

★★★★★

written by Rikimaru on 24/09/2008

I first got my iPod Touch 8GB on a spending splurge through my catalogue 'I was bored of my iPod Nano, and I am a gadget freak so I simply HAD to have this. It was and still is a little pricey, but with Apple you get a very slick design which always looks nice, all hail Steve Jobs our benevolent dictator!

The UI is simply marvellous, it makes selecting which album to play a joy, even now people glance over and see what that strange pad you are touching is. The sound quality is lovely with many different equalizer settings to choose from; unfortunately you cannot customise an equaliser setting but oh well! Every aspect of the UI screams uniqueness and quality, the cover flow album selector is brilliant, a simple rotation of the iPod, and the extremely accurate build in accelerometer kicks in and up pops your albums!

The App store is brilliant also, there are loads of free applications to download and many can really showcase the touch ' s abilities. The Maps function is really cool although pretty pointless on the Touch as you can only really access it if you are within range of a WiFi spot. The same can be said for the Safari Browser and the email receiver. But they are neat to have anyway.

At the other end of the scale it is a shame that they have removed the ability to use the iPod ' s memory as a ' Memory Stick '. Also it is annoying that Apple charged people to update the software to 2.0 considering they already forked out 160 minimum for the unit 'one would expect software updates to be free. The standard iPod headphones are not very good, they seem to do a great job with treble but the bass is very poor, I suggest getting a good pair of headphones to go with it; otherwise you have an expensive piece of kit with a poor pair of headphones.

Also the fact that it HAS to be synced to iTunes and activated via iTunes pretty much forces the user to own a PC or MAC, the same can be said by not including a charger with it meaning you either have to buy one or charge it from the USB port, and it also forces the user to have an internet connection as they do not include iTunes. All of these things people have simply gotten used too but they still nig at me. I do not like the inclusion of a speaker on the new unit either, basically because here in the UK we have many kids that on buses and trains will persist on playing music loudly, and its usually not very good music either. If it wasn ' t for that, id probably be happy with the inclusion.

All in all thought, I do not regret buying it, I love it and will continue to love it.

written by mjweston on 15/09/2008

I've been a long term apple agnostic... but even I have to admit this is pretty special. I was finally convinced that this, my 6th MP3 player, was the way forward when I realised it replaced my sadly outdated and outclassed Palm at the same time.
As an MP3 player, it gets 8 or 9/10... the sound (admittedly through some pretty special earbuds) is clean, clear, crisp and lively. The interface makes it very easy to scroll through my music. This 1st gen version lacks a hardware volume button, which is a shame, but otherwise this is excellent.
As a PDA it must be 9-10/10... as the app store continues to fill out I get more and more pleasure from this exceptionally gifted device.

I first used Apple iPod Touch in currys digital and thought it was brilliant. It is extremely fast when accessing the net and so easy to use that anyone could pick it up. The only downside I would say is that to type url address and stuff on the touch pad is quite difficult at first as its so small but you do get used to it after practice. I really like my Apple iTouch and have even told my brother to get one for his birthday!

written by idiottbh on 12/08/2008

I bought the Apple iPod Touch 8gb to replace my existing mp3/mp4 player (Archos 604) when it finally died. I was at first sceptical about the price and the value I would receive for such a large price tag (around the 200 pound mark). Although it has about 22gb less storage than my last player (30gb) it more than makes up for in features. The GUI (graphical User Interface) is clean and easy to use and to the contrary of popular belief the onscreen keyboard is very easy to use. The wireless connection is very good and the onscreen setup for this is quick and simple.

One of my concerns with this player (as it is with any Apple device) is the use of iTunes, but my experience has been good and I have never encountered a problem.

I would recommend this player to anyone although I would suggest buying a case of some sort for it as the reverse side seems to scratch easily moreover would you like to break a 200 pound mp3 player? I for one wouldn't.

Overall an excellent replacement for my last player. Highly recommended.
