I have had many friends and family visit this so called secret of the Vale, and thought that I would go there for a visit with my partner. We arrived to the restaurant at around 8pm on a Wednesday night and was not greeted straight away with any member of staff until a few minutes later. We asked if we could have a table for 2 and was told that we would have to wait atleast 30 minutes before we could have our order taken. This to me was very strange as there were only a few other couples in there and it didn't seem all the busy. This I was quiet disappointed by and thought that it was rather a negative approach to the restaurant. So we sat down in the front area where we had our drinks and looked through the menu. The menu was rather large and seemed to have a lot of food which to my opinion would not have been cooked from fresh, such as the roast beef or lamb!

I opted for something that I would have know would have been cooked from fresh as so did my partner. I found the whole experience in this restaurant disappointing and lacked atosphere. The building its self was over whelming and some of the decor was rather bold.
From this experience I shall not be returning to the restaurant and will most definately not be recommending it to any of our friends.

Service with a smile and the most beautifully home cooked bread. They were able to precook for us to have a swift lunch. The interior is a fresh change to chain restaurants and pubs with an Eastern European bare artistry feeling. Food was well served with large portions and a taste that satisfied.

Personal favourites at Illtuds 216 include the Spinach and poached egg soup, the monkfish and the desserts...? Well, the bread and butter pudding is to die for!!We were told the chef used to work for the Savoy and the QE2 - not surprising considering the quality of the good, tasty and wholesome (without being fancy!) food!Ask the staff about the history of the restaurant building... fascinating!
