Good Points: Tracking number for parcel. Phoned to say they were on their way.

Bad Points: 1 hour later than originally quoted. Can't contact them directly.

General comments: I've just bought a Toshiba 47z3030 tv from Amazon for half price, free delivery with HDNL. I've never heard of them and our house is quite hard to find, because of a bizarre numbering system in the street, so I thought I'd look them up so I could give directions if needed. Amongst the sites that came up was this one and when I started to read the overwhelmingly bad reviews I became more and more convinced that I too would have problems, although I can't say I totally agree with all the expectations of people (see below). But got worried especially when the 4 hour window for delivery came and went without hearing from them. However, about 15 minutes later a got a call from the driver apologising for lateness and saying they'd be here in about half an hour. They were, give or take five minutes, and were friendly, prompt and efficient. People posting here who seem to think they're going to get a phone call for a normal package delivery are perhaps deluding themselves? Does the Royal Mail phone them when they have a Special Delivery that needs signing for? Does any other delivery service? In my experience you only get a call if you are having a large item delivered: a large TV, a cooker,a washing machine, stuff like that, and usually only if it is being delivered by truck. Usually these days you get a half day window for delivery, which is a big improvement on having to wait in all day. I'm not aware of any van deliveries that call to say they're on their way and I personally wouldn't expect them to. After reading some of the reviews here I can't help feeling that some people expect far too much. If you're unhappy with HDNL's service wait until you, like me, have to employ builders!

The HDNL tracking system is a great idea. Goods shown to be in Lichfield next minute deliver to my door by a very nice driver. Excellent service and great driver/deliverer. Many thanks.

Not impressed at all with the service HDNL offered. I orderd a Wii Fit from amazon on the 27th of june with an estimated delivery date of the 3rd of july, its not the 8th of july and im still waiting for it. Apparently its been sent to Sunderland instead of Stockton and i will probably not be able to receive it until next week according to amazon (had to ring them as hdnl provided no helpful information and just passed us on to amazon). I doubt very much i will be using amazon in the future unl ...

If you know what is good for you, you will not use HDNL! A very poor service, hardly ever on time, some drivers have very poor customer service skills and when complained some managers promised me a lot but deliver little.

I will definitely avoid any online retailers using Home Delivery Network Limited. I have found the drivers struggle to find my address, when no other companies do! Also I found out the drivers don't carry phones or use sat nav, which in my mind in 2008 is not the best way forward for a courier company?

HDNL has been poor in my case. Every experience I have had with this firm has been negative. They have failed in their primary job of safely delivering parcels. Amazon lost me as a customer last year and due to HDNL, Littlewoods are about to too.

HDNL missed the first delivery rearranged to be delivered at new address told it wouldn't be day after as i was to late sorted out for some one to stay in the day after that. Only to have the parcel arrive the day after and have to be left at a neighbours also the person on the telephone couldn't tell me were the nearest depot to pick up the parcel myself. In short, I wasn't impressed.

Long story, but ending beggar's belief. We received our second card for attempted delivery around 17.00, which was almost the exact same time as I picked up our parcel from the depot 40 miles away. This was after calling and being told that they had attempted delivery at 11.53 the same day. The previous day the first card was left but no doorbell heard. My husband works at home and has been there 24/7 both days.

I have nothing good to say about this service. I've been waiting nearly 2 weeks for one parcel which according to the tracking system and been in and out of the depot about 6 times. How can they claim not to know where an address is, haven't they heard of GPS and Postcodes?

I ordered a parcel from BT which was supposed to arrive within 5 days. No sign of the parcel within this time. On the sixth day, a card came through the door claiming that this was the second attempt to deliver the parcel. Notably, I had received no card announcing a first attempt, and I was at home during the apparent second attempt, so a simple case of ringing the bell should have sufficed. I rang the HDNL depot and suggested that the driver leave the parcel in the shop next door if there was ...

Ordered a washing machine from a littlewoods, paid for 3 day delivery. It was supposed to be delivered Friday. I was given incorrect information, then changed to tuesday, (7days after). Delivery driver -didn't hear knock- put card through. i was on the phone within 3 minutes (including selecting option and to wait for adviser, and the delivery driver refused to deliver. Cant reschedule the delivery till the item is returned to the depo. so im looking at least 6 more days. Hence i have cancelle ...

I ordered a new plasma screen from Amazon. Delivery supplied by HDNL. The delivery was confirmed by phone within 24 hours of the order, and an AM delivery between 7:45 and 11:45 was booked. The drivers turned up at 11:35 and as promised by amazon, they unpacked the new screen. It turned out that a base needed attaching before I could use it, so one of the drivers helped me with that while the other one cleared away the packaging. Both were friendly and courteous to both me and my children, an ...

I have just had a third awful experience with HDNL. I recently ordered a parcel online, which was dispatched 16th May and was to be delivered the following week. My partner waited in the flat for the parcel as he was off work that week. Apparently HDNL tried to deliver on two days but were unable to gain access to the building. There is video entry on the block of flats and all they had to do was ring the bell for flat 15. It's really obvious! So it seems they didn't bother to ring the bell ...

I ordered a limited edition package worth £60 through Amazon. When I used their parcel tracker a few days later I discovered that Home Delivery Network Limited had delivered my parcel to my address. It hadn't, I know this because I live there! I contacted Amazon who gave me the name of the person who had signed for the delivery, they don't even live in my building! Amazon were great and gave me a full refund. I never did get my package and as it was a limited edition it had sold out b ...

Tried to deliver to my work address, an investment Bank, on a Saturday. Left a card they claimed which no one has seen. Found them on the internet and no contact details to get them to redeliver.

I ordered books from Amazon, they were suppose to arrive in 5 days. They did not arrive, a while later I checked my Amazon account and on the tracking page saw that HDNL had attempted to deliver 2 times. They did not on any occasion: 1. Leave a card 2. Call me (checked and my details were all correct on Amazon) I managed to find the depot number online on someone's blog site. I called the depot and they told me they had sent the parcel back to Amazon. They were polite but not professional - ...

When I had a missing order through Amazon, the tracking showed 1 attempt ("not home" - I had been home all day the two previous days), and 1 attempt "wrong address". All I can say is: leave a notification at delivery site to say attempted delivery if "not home", or phone recipient on the supplied contact detail.

I phoned to collect an item which they told me that I was ready for pick up when I got in HDNL depot the operating manager told us that they couldn't find my item and have it delivered instead. The operating manager in told us that it will be delivered the following day at 2pm. When I got home from work around 1pm, I have a message on the phone by their staff that the item is still in there depot. I phoned them explaining how come that it will be there because as what being agreed by the operati ...

I think some of these reviews are a little unfair. I work for HDNL, and don't think its as bad as some are saying. Some of you complained as we don't deliver on Saturdays, and this is the only day your at home. Well the same goes for us, are we not allowed the weekend off aswell, you don't work on Saturdays, so why should we?. Also, I've read that some one wasn't happy that drivers did not call before delivery. The drivers aren't given company mobiles, they use their own. Would you use your o ...
