We have had this dryer for 3 years and have had no problems until today when it suddenly burst into flames with thick black smoke coming from the back of the dryer filling the room within minutes. The dryer had been on for 5 minutes when this happened. Thankfully my husband was able to isolate the electricity and out the fire. We lost clothes that were in the dryer. If we were out or asleep the outcome would have been very different. I will neither buy or recommend indesit products to anyone. (read more)

Just come across this page while looking for the manual and noticed all reviews as negative. I've had this dryer for over 5 years and no problems at all, for the last 3 years it has been used nearly every day. I don't know if the others have had a bad batch. It's only fair to note that they aren't all like that. (read more)

Bought this dryer 2 years ago from comet had no problems with it until yesterday (Tuesday 23rd March 2010). when it suddenly burst into flames, thick black acrid smoke bellowing everywhere in minutes, managed to dampen the flames enough to get it out,the main start of the fire seemed to come from behind the filter, spilling up the front burning the controls. After reading other reviews on this it would be clearly evident that Indesit are aware of this problem, and are failing to act in a... (read more)

What more can I say in the past 13 months the belt on my Indesit IS60V has been replaced 7 times - we were even asked if we were using it industrially - 2 kids obviously come under the industrial revolution! Would spend a little more on a better machine! (read more)

Belt has been replaced 4 times, when dryer was only bought 6 months ago. Absolutely pathetic for a '6kg family dryer'. After replacing the belt the 4th time I bought a different make. Would never recommend. (read more)

After only 25 months, the rear drum bearing has broken and the belt broke too on the Indesit IS60V. Hardly the quality I would have expected. I will buy a different brand to replace it. (read more)

My Indesit IS60V also caught fire. Their is a fundamental problem with the design of the lint filter. Lint by-passes the filter and builds up on the heather element and then catches fire. Dense smoke bellowed out the the machine. Fortunately we were able to deal with it. Called the London Fire Brigade who said that as it was a near miss they woundn't investigate it. Don't buy indesit.
