Visited the Ashford branch and saw a garden chair I liked thought it was expensive. Decided to think about it. Looked on line at the item a few times. Two days later it became unavailable online so I decided to try and purchase the one I had seen before I lost the chance.rang the store and was told the show model was still in the shop. Got put through to the furniture department where a very surly girl told me the previous girl was mistaken and the item was out of stock and had been for some… Read Full Review

I am disgusted and appalled at how the milton keynes shop keep their reptiles. I have emailed the store manager to inform him how they should keep their tortoises and advised him how poorly their tortoise is becoming as they've had it in their shop now for a very long time. There's not one thing that they're doing that is good for that poor little thing. Of course I've had no response through email and nothing has changed. I will never ever be setting foot in any of dobbies again. I will… Read Full Review

Called in to shop at Dobbies Shepton Mallet. NO staff around to help. Rude man in Aquarium area not interested in serving me. Garden centre help nowhere to be seen. Lack of knowledge of what's in stock when I finally find someone to help so time wasted. Difficult to see garden plants as roses in rhododendrons and A- Z of shrubs non- existent order all confusing Staff apologising for lack of staff. Charged full price on offer. How on earth can a store like this get it's customer service so… Read Full Review

I have just visited your Garden centre in Lisburn today (Sunday) looking for Autumn bulbs. I just want to congratulate you on getting your priorities right - there was no Autumn bulbs but plenty of Christmas Decorations. Perhaps I should plant Christmas baubles instead and see what happen. Come on Dobbies stick to what you are known for i.e. plants, seeds and bulbs not Christmas decorations 4 months before Christmas, what's next Easter eggs? … Read Full Review

The branch of Dobbies I am reviewing is Braehead Glasgow. As always, the garden centre stock is superb and so is the shop. Unfortunately there are too many times there's nobody at the till and you have to take your purchases to the longer queues at the main checkouts. My particular grievance today is in the restaurant. It can be difficult for less able ones to negotiate the gaps between tables. I eventually got seated near the double doors to the outdoor area. I found myself looking at a clear… Read Full Review

I was charged full price for a half price calendar, therefore i phoned to advise them, after 7 minutes of being kept on hold I gave up as it was not going to be worthwhile. Also called in another time for an afternoon tea with my friend, they would not serve us as it was past the deadline even though we said we would sit in another area. Manager said we should have booked, however the other part of the restaurant was not busy at all. Not enough staff manning the restaurant area, there seems to… Read Full Review

We went into our local dobbies in Shrewsbury to get some fish for my 7 yr old. We walked all round the store first which was lovely and clean lots of staff should you need anything. Even Christmas things were on display (Aug?) Then as we got to to the aquatic bit I was astonished it was dark dingy and smelt like a pond, The floor was chipped and filthy and what fish you could see through the dirty tanks and snails were dead and dying fish. The glass was covered in algae and water marks and… Read Full Review

As a regular visitor to Dobbies centres across the Lothians and Fife the Livingston branch has always been one of my favourites, until now! The new store layout is just awful. Feels and looks more like a cattle market than an shopping experience with no sense of flow other than the direction you and everyone else has to walk in. The checkout counter has now been removed from the deli so to purchase 1/2 a dozen sausages from the fantastic butchery counter I now have to queue behind those buying… Read Full Review

Shop was not laid out well, with products strewn across tables and over floor. Staff were unhelpful and did not check in the back for more stock. Toilets were filthy and coffee was cold. Cost for all this was extortionate, and just not worth the trip. Kids didn't fancy their meal either and restarant was dirty and tables were not cleared… Read Full Review

Daughter paid a visit with 2yr old grandson to visit santa's grotto in Livingston - after lengthy wait got to front of queue, was told no voucher (which was to be purchased at front of store) no visit! No indication at entrance to Grotto that voucher was required, no staff on hand to assist or give any advice that voucher was required, which we could have bought whilst standing in the queue! Grotto closed at 4pm this was now 4.10 so grandson didn't get to see Santa, rang to complain, just got… Read Full Review

I received some of the worst plants I have ever had from a garden centre.
for over £21 for an apple tree I got 18" stubby whips with practically no roots.
Potted plants, gooseberries etc. were weedy little runts with poor root systems.
I have bought a lot of such plants over the years, and I have wasted a lot of money. When I complained, the response was rude and insulting.
They need to show pictures of the actual plants you will get on their website - but then nobody would buy… Read Full Review

Ordered wellington Boots online,Payment taken from my account almost immediately then two weeks later I received an email and phonecall to say that they were out of stock.
Why did it take 2 weeks before they discovered they were out of stock and why did they take the money immediately. Most online retailers only take payment after an item has been dispatched. Very disapointed with service and communication. I would have liked to know that there was ample stock before money being taken… Read Full Review

Placed an order on the 21st August for 2 garden chairs and 4 ballerina ornaments.Received chairs after several telephone calls but no ornaments. My first online order of a garden bench did not appear after 10 days - I was promised a 3-5 days delivery. After writing to enquire, I was told that it was lying in a warehouse somewhere and would soon be on its way. A week later and no bench, and after a phone call, I discover that the benches are actually sold out. Hence I have to go elsewhere.
I am currently waiting on two raised bed kits. So far, the 3-5 day delivery has past and i've been assured that they'll be with me soon. We'll see… Read Full Review

Buy in the summer receive in the winter. Although Dobbies boast 2-3 days delivery and "quick delivery" This was certainly not my experience. I have now been waiting 42 days for my chiminea. I have had numerous conversations with customer service staff who give me a different excuse every time I call as to why I haven't received it yet none of which seem to be genuine. After speaking to the manager Elaine I was promised a special Saturday delivery which of course did not turn up AGAIN. I will… Read Full Review

My online order of 6th August, for two items, is still awaited 5 weeks later. So far I have sent numerous emails and have rung their customer services several times. The customer services are very pleasant but it seems they seem completely in the dark regarding anything to do with my order. I regularly purchase items online and generally have become used to prompt and efficient service from most companies. Regretably Dobbies is not one of those and I cannot recommend them… Read Full Review
