As a regular visitor to Dobbies centres across the Lothians and Fife the Livingston branch has always been one of my favourites, until now! The new store layout is just awful. Feels and looks more like a cattle market than an shopping experience with no sense of flow other than the direction you and everyone else has to walk in. The checkout counter has now been removed from the deli so to purchase 1/2 a dozen sausages from the fantastic butchery counter I now have to queue behind those... (read more)

Shop was not laid out well, with products strewn across tables and over floor. Staff were unhelpful and did not check in the back for more stock. Toilets were filthy and coffee was cold. Cost for all this was extortionate, and just not worth the trip. Kids didn't fancy their meal either and restarant was dirty and tables were not cleared. (read more)

Daughter paid a visit with 2yr old grandson to visit santa's grotto in Livingston - after lengthy wait got to front of queue, was told no voucher (which was to be purchased at front of store) no visit! No indication at entrance to Grotto that voucher was required, no staff on hand to assist or give any advice that voucher was required, which we could have bought whilst standing in the queue! Grotto closed at 4pm this was now 4.10 so grandson didn't get to see Santa, rang to complain, just... (read more)

I received some of the worst plants I have ever had from a garden centre.
for over £21 for an apple tree I got 18" stubby whips with practically no roots.
Potted plants, gooseberries etc. were weedy little runts with poor root systems.
I have bought a lot of such plants over the years, and I have wasted a lot of money. When I complained, the response was rude and insulting.
They need to show pictures of the actual plants you will get on their website - but then nobody would buy.

Ordered wellington Boots online,Payment taken from my account almost immediately then two weeks later I received an email and phonecall to say that they were out of stock.
Why did it take 2 weeks before they discovered they were out of stock and why did they take the money immediately. Most online retailers only take payment after an item has been dispatched. Very disapointed with service and communication. I would have liked to know that there was ample stock before money being taken.

Placed an order on the 21st August for 2 garden chairs and 4 ballerina ornaments.Received chairs after several telephone calls but no ornaments. The Customer Service Department is a total waste of time and at todays date 31st October they still have not refunded me my money. Have written to them and had no reply either, still fighting for my money back. Will never shop again online with them. Posting another letter tomorrow. (read more)

My first online order of a garden bench did not appear after 10 days - I was promised a 3-5 days delivery. After writing to enquire, I was told that it was lying in a warehouse somewhere and would soon be on its way. A week later and no bench, and after a phone call, I discover that the benches are actually sold out. Hence I have to go elsewhere.
I am currently waiting on two raised bed kits. So far, the 3-5 day delivery has past and i've been assured that they'll be with me soon. We'll see...

Buy in the summer receive in the winter. Although Dobbies boast 2-3 days delivery and "quick delivery" This was certainly not my experience. I have now been waiting 42 days for my chiminea. I have had numerous conversations with customer service staff who give me a different excuse every time I call as to why I haven't received it yet none of which seem to be genuine. After speaking to the manager Elaine I was promised a special Saturday delivery which of course did not turn up AGAIN. I will... (read more)

My online order of 6th August, for two items, is still awaited 5 weeks later. So far I have sent numerous emails and have rung their customer services several times. The customer services are very pleasant but it seems they seem completely in the dark regarding anything to do with my order. I regularly purchase items online and generally have become used to prompt and efficient service from most companies. Regretably Dobbies is not one of those and I cannot recommend them. (read more)

nhouse because I wanted to become more successful at growing strawberries and my last couple attempts over the past few years have been pretty disastrous. Dobbies.com had what I needed, made it easy for me to buy, and had a really good range to pick from. I got it a few days later (delivered by two strapping young men!) and everything was included. It took me a good few days to put together properly (and I needed to invite an extra pair of hands to help!) but now I'm looking forward to my... (read more)

I had ordered a swing for my sons 1st birthday from Dobbies Garden Centres 5 days early - so I knew it would arrive on time - and they promised me it would arrive within 48hours.
It didnt arrive so i called them and they kept me on hold for ages and then said "we haven't dispatched it yet, it should be dispatched on monday" it was my son's birthday on saturday, so monday was too late. I asked for a refund and told them that I'd find one elsewhere but the refund didn't come through. they said...

Hi 'misshoneypie'<br/><br/>I'm the person that is responsible for internet orders and home deliveries at Dobbies. It sounds like you've had a pretty difficult experience, and I want to say that I'm sorry for that. Most of our customers are really happy with our products, our service and our prices, but it sounds like on this occasion, we've let you down. I'd really like to help mend this. Can you please call me personally on 0844 840 8402 with your order number, and I'll see what went wrong, and what I can do to make it up to you.<br/><br/>Kind regards,<br/><br/>Joel Rendle<br/>Head of Ecommerce<br/>Dobbies Garden Centres plc
