I've been with British Insurance for a while after following the adice from moneysavingexpert.
Buying was simple enough and the information clearly displayed throughout.
Again like the other commenter, Ive not needed to claim but it reassuring I have the policy.
I purchased the back to day policy that pays back to the start of any redundancy etc.
My only gripe is the 0845 number which is annoying rather than a free phone number - surely it's not hard to offer this to your paying...

I actually found them extremely helpful and price wise close to the other providers.
Most policies have a 3 month exclusion so this was to be expected.
Overall happy so far but haven't needed to claim!

An exclusion period mean of 120 days in layman's terms is like buying car insurance paying premiums for 4 months but you're not insured to drive until after the 4th month. This is very poor value.
Plus they have had significant price increases (86%) recently giving only 30 days notice!
In this climate it can be difficult to get alternative cover as many providers are not offering unemployment cover.
Get advice and avoid moneysavingexpert who con you with his recommendations so he gets...

British Insurance offer a reviewable policy and contract which means that the policy cover and premiums can be changed as and when the insurance company chooses to, i had followed Martin Lewis's'expert'' advise as he recommended British Insurance....... 3 months after i had taken the policy out British Insurance had written to me to say that my policy premium was going to go up after 30 days by 86%..........86%! that was a riducalous increase which they claimed was due to the credit crunch.... I found this review very helpful because... I have has the same experience. Some companies offer cover fixed for at least a year for this very reason. The last thing you want is dirt cheap cover when your unlikely to claim but when we hit recession prices increase significantly. To out salt in the wounds at lot of other providers have pulled out and are not currently offering unemployment only cover.

So buyer beware going for the cheapest cover is not always the best you should consider the full terms and conditions and take advice as the commission you pay websites such as moneysavingexpert pays him for bad advice that does not give you the support an advised sale provides.

Why is moneysavingexpert Martin Lewis still recommending this policy it has an 120 day initial exclusion which is really bad considering the best policy has 30 days. I let you make you make your own mind up.
