“Don't sacrifice the future for now! Don't go near them! ”

Written on: 16/09/2014 by 127Greene (1 review written)

This is unbelievable! We paid our last payment in August 2013 and despite assurances that completion was imminent we are still waiting for our closure certificate that we would be able to use to rebuild our credit score. We didn't go bankrupt, we didn't shed responsibility for our debt. We have paid the vast majority back and in the process learned a very hard lesson and spent 7 years budgeting every penny spent. We don't ever want to lend irresponsibly again but want to have the chance, with… Read Full Review

“Never ending iva”

Written on: 01/09/2014 by Samanthalockwood86 (1 review written)

I should of finished my Iva in February 2012 it's now a year and a half later and it's still isn't closed. I had calls from equity in finance about ppi claims which I told them I never had any ppi but they said unless I signed my iva would not be able to be closed. So I did then they contacted me saying that they had checked and I didn't have any ppi. What a waste of time that was. Then I had letter from debt free direct stating that I had to sign and return the forms so they could go ahead and… Read Full Review

This is unbelievable! We paid our last payment in August 2013 and despite assurances since that completion was imminent we are still waiting for our closure certificate that we would be able to use to rebuild our credit score. We didn't go bankrupt, we didn't shed responsibility for our debt. We have paid the vast majority back and in the process learned a very hard lesson and spend 7 years budgeting every penny spent. We don't ever want to lend irresponsibly again but want to have the chance with well paying jobs now to get on the property ladder. We are now in our late 30's and time is ticking. Student debt and divorce implications should now be of the past, we have paid what we owe and not shirked under the cloak of bankruptcy. Please just give us our completion certificate and let us move on, I would never recommend DFD. You do your part and they are criminally negligent in theirs I would say. More fool us for doing the right thing and going through the red tape only to be let down. Having gone through the complaints procedure with DFD and being told that our. Completion was in the hands of the insolvency practitioner since April 2014 we are still waiting. The financial ombudsman can't consider the administration of the IVA only the initial advice (which in the emotional turmoil is a distant memory). DFD complaints say that they cant do anything more. I am now going to my MP and perhaps the newspapers. If anyone has a story to support get in touch.

I paid my final payment to DFD on the 5 Jan 2013 and I am still waiting for my certificate. It has made my life a misery I am being hounded by Equity in Finance who they use to get any PPI you may have and these calls are worse than when I was in debt they use auto call back if you do not answer and I have been informed unless I sign loads of paperwork from them I will not get my certificate! Is this legal as when I took my IVA out 8 years ago there was nothing mentioned about PPI they are just… Read Full Review

Hi My iva with dfd should have finished in February 2012 and it's still ongoing they said its due to ppi claims but equity in finance contacted me to say that they had run their checks and I never had any ppi I make phone call after phone call but it doesn't get me anywhere. I too need to get finance to get a car and if I don't get a car in the next two months I will lose my job of 10 years as we are contracted to have access to our own vehicles 7 days a week. I to have been in iva with debt free direct for 2yrs and few months after leaving bains and earnst and over the last few weeks been ringing around my debts to get balance and to my surprise no payments have been made since 2011 been paying 222 a month so now gone to financial ombudsman under the complaint of missold as same as ppi as I do not owe the money to them I owe them nothing and was told all interest and charges stopped and they haven't done this and they only make one payment a yr to creditors so out of £2400 I pay a yr only 400 goes to creditors and it is your responsibility to inform them of pay rise bonus and any changes to iva so what are we paying 2000 a yr in charges for when everything is our responsibility they never told me this when joining the iva till after and told me no monthly charges either but there wouldn't be a monthly charge as they pay yearly and charges for paper envelopes stamps photocopying as well these company's are suppose to help you get out of debt!!! Oh and they hassle you for ppi claims just done one to see what would happen and I claimed for it myself got 590 and they have took it and not shortened my iva not lowered my payments so who has the money them and they have added another 4 months to my plan also so I'll do whatever it takes to get out of it and I urge everyone to check with company's on iva as I said no payments received in two years GOOD LUCK!

I initially got told in my first phone call to them I'd be paying £170 over 5 years then once all signed up this payment tripled and is now over 6 years. I think loads of staff have left as the service has become shocking. When you get a bonus payment they take weeks to tell you what you need to pay them. E mails if they do reply to it now takes 5 weeks to reply. Half the time I email they never respond I get letters in the post for other people and it's all in photocopied paper not even… Read Full Review

“No end in sight. !”

Written on: 19/07/2014 by Alessandra88 (1 review written)

All the good reviews are obviously posted by DFD or people who have not come to the end of thier IVA ! I have just been informed I have to take a £7500 secured loan from a sister company of debt free direct to finish my IVA. I owed £18000 and so far have paid then £16000. The loan will apparently be over 15 years according to thier final settlement team. That's about £15000 . How is this debt free. They are out to extort as much as possible. I will not be paying needless to say ! Beware ! … Read Full Review

I took out an IVA nearly 6 years ago. In the end with the £10K fee DFD charge I payed back 34K out of 36K. That aside I did and it was a single payment (That they kept trying to increase). It has been 9 months sinse I finished paying and have not recieved my completion certificate. I had two calls the first to tell me that it would be issued shortly the second to say I still had 18 months to run on the IVA (this was a couple of days ago) Do they know what they are doing. Notwithstanding the overall star rating which, from what I gather from other sources, is deliberately and falsely skewed in favour of DFD, this company has clearly duped a lot of people into false hope, and in my opinion fraudulently used peoples PPI refunds to line their own pockets. If It weren't for the PPI theft by the unscrupulous banks in the first place, most of these people would not have incurred the levels of debt to force them into IVA in the first place! Liken it to a mugger stealing your money, being caught & forced to return it to you only for the authorities to then make you give your own money back to the person who mugged you in the first place! Good result for the mugger and not at all good for us "The Mugs". It's our own fault for putting up with it - anybody want to form a pressure group to lobby those lard asses in Parliament and get their snouts out of the expenses trough and represent those people like IVA highway robbery???

Hi everyone, I have completed my IVA with this company and I havn't had my certificate in over 2 years because of the pursuit of the PPI on the creditors behalf. Just before Xmas they sent me a deed of assignment in order that they may close my case which I sent back to them but when I contacted them to confirm that they had it,they send yes they did and then I received an email from a member of staff stating that they had not. After sending out up to 4 deeds of assignments… Read Full Review

Please remember that PPI is your own money falsely obtained from you in the first place. Why on Gods earth would you assign it back to them. Jesus had the right idea when he chucked them out of the Temple! If people don't organise an stand up to this injustice then there is little hope or example to set for future generations!

Even though DFD are helpful and give good advice helping you decide whether an IVA is for you, depending individual circumstances!! BE AWARE they do not tell you before! accepting the IVA, that in the 4th year of your agreement, you could be forced to remortgage your home or even forced to sell it!! if you have more than 5% equity in your home......to pay off the remaining 50% of your outstanding debt.I personally was not informed of this!!
