I had moved out of the country for 5 years, and my credit was therefore non-existent. I decided to start building my credit and applied or several beginners cards including Aqua. Aqua approved me and I got a £250 credit rating at first. I never went over, and paid the balance in full at the end of the month. After 6 months, they increased the credit limit to £800. I continued to se the card, didn't go over the limit, and paid in full every month. After another 6 months, I got another... (read more)

Yes, the cashback is pretty good so if you pay off your balance in full each month you can make a few quid. The problems begin with the fact that they seem to be giving everyone a very low credit allowance (despite my impeccable credit record I was only given £250). This actually makes it more likely I will run in to fees as, based on such a low limit, there is a danger of me overspending - perhaps this is their deliberate strategy). The worst thing, though, is how slow and unreliable their... (read more)

Yes, exactly Rj2013. That's precisely why I went for it. Not worth the hassle and worry of dealing with Aqua, though. They (finally) got back to me regarding my complaints and the person I spoke to said there was nothing wrong with their website and, as far as she knew, there were no other complaints about how slow and unresponsive the website is. I find this VERY difficult to believe.

I applied for an Aqua Cashback card in June 2012 because of the 3% Cashback offer. My intentions were always to repay the full balance every month to avoid the high interest charges levied. You're doing the same as me - and, yes, I agree, I bet they do hate us.
Like you say, they do make it as difficult as possible and, no doubt, as a result, many customers will end up with late fees, credit limit exceeded fees, etc. Add to that their incredibly slow and unreliable website and you've got the recipe for them milking customers to the max. I've just (unsuccessfully) spent half an hour on their website trying to make a payment. Absolutely awful company/card.

I've had the Aqua card for about a year now. I've had no issues. Always paid on time and it just ticks along. Aqua are not a charity! It's a credit card that gives a fantastic 3% cashback on purchases and no loading when spending abroad. It is obvious that these types of 'rewards' cards charge very high interest rates compared to an average credit card, No one with any intelligence would use a card like this to borrow on. If you had to borrow on a card you should have used one with a low interest rate. Sorry I have no sympathy for your situation at all.

Also when you have been taken to court by an abusive ex and you are trying to protect your child and at the same time pay over 700 pounds a month solicitors bills, before rent, food and clothing, maybe then you are in a position to say how intelligent it is to spend on a credit card. Due to a few financial indiscretions at uni, my credit rating took a bit of a slide. I applied for an aqua card to help improve my rating. Thats your own fault completely. You should lways repay the card in full to avoid paying interest and when you can't you could have made the minimum payment to them (which is like £10 - are you seriously saying you didn't even have £10 spare?).
Although by the sounds of it you were over your credit limit at some point which is why it was reported to the CRA's, if that's wrong then you can have it removed.
So you didn't manage the credit that was given to you and now your credit report accurately reflects your lack of responsibility. It's no fault of Aqua's.

I knew it! They told me there was nothing wrong with their website and no-one else was complaining. Their website is almost unusable most of the time. It takes several minutes to go from step to step when trying to access your account online and often bombs out. This means that if you want to check your balance, make a debit card payment against your balance, etc. it will take you about 10 minutes or more to go through each step. And that's if you're lucky: often you'll just be kicked out back to the first login screen.
