Got 10% off for opening a MasterCard in the Worcester store. Lovely lady on the men's department was very helpful and gave great customer service. I then received a £10 voucher in my card statement, which I then returned and spent rather quickly! Genuinely one of the best store cards I've had, bought a holiday with Virgin and used my store card and use it on a regular basis, I have had over £100 in vouchers over the past year. Also a lower APR in comparison to other store cards I've had in the past I.e Topman, Argos etc. great card.

I received a House Of Fraser gift card as a present and tried to make an online purchase using it on the House Of Fraser website. My purchases however at check out when redeeming the gift card would not go through (some of which were sale items that would most certainly sell out quickly) and I then had to phone customer services who also could not process the order. Eventually the customer services lady gave up and spoke to her supervisor. I was informed that my card had been 'blocked'??? and that I had to wait 24 hours before trying it again, she assured me that it would then be unblocked. So 24 hours later I attempted to put the order through again with no success, the gift card still wouldn't work and I had to phone customer services yet again only to be asked by a rather supercilious man with a patronizing and unhelpful manner 'was the card still valid'??? to which I replied it was the expiry date being at least a year away. He then tried to put my order through but also could not process it. He put me on hold whilst he spoke with his supervisor, by this time I've spent 15 minutes on the phone. He then informed me that the card was still blocked and he couldn't process my order by phone either and I was to wait an additional 72 HOURS before trying to use it again????? What the hell is going on with this gift card??? I certainly DO NOT recommend HOUSE OF FRASER Gift Cards - not a pleasant shopping experience at all but an anxious & stressful one, not helped by the unapologetic customer services agent. What was supposed to be a nice gift from my brother turned out to be a ridiculous, horrible shopping experience which I wouldn't want to repeat. I've yet to see if it will work in 72 hours time!

We tried to use Gift Cards purchased for My Wife and Daughter for their Birthdays. We were told by the store that the systems were down, however in The Manchester Store, we could pay by any other method. Complaints to House of Fraser prompted from Tweets just got an apology, but only after I complained how long the response had taken. We have now heard from several people who claim that the system for gift cards at House of Fraser is often inactive. Seriously think about whether you should get one for a friend or relative. We have never had a problem at John Lewis, who offers good customer service. No more House of Fraser for me. Poor Poor Customer Service
