Good Points: Great diligence, and excellent attitude of the staff. The food, and service were excellent, and good value based on the prices we saw elsewhere in Iceland. The hotel is in walking distance (if you are keen, and the weather is good) from the Blue Lagoon.
Bad Points: The hotel is pretty isolated. The only things visible from the hotel, apart from lava fields, are a geothermal power station (which doesn't seem to be visible on the photos on the hotel website), and in the distance, the Blue Lagoon.
General comments: Although the Northern Light Inn does not appear attractive from the outside this is more than made up for by the diligence, and attitude of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They collected us (and took us back ) from the airport, and ferried us backwards and forwards from the Blue Lagoon every day. The food, and service were excellent, and good value based on the prices we saw elsewhere in Iceland. The hotel is in walking distance (if you are keen, and the weather is good) from the Blue Lagoon.Buses run into Reykjavik regularly from the Blue Lagoon, which makes it easy to get around by bus if you don't have a hire car. It takes about 40 minutes to get into Reykjavik. However, the last bus from Reykjavik to the Blue Lagoon appears to be at 6PM.
We booked the Golden Circle tour with a local sightseeing company. This was excellent, and we had a great day. Our highlight was the waterfall at Gulfoss.
