One star is too much for this organisation. I joined them just over month ago (phone and broadband package) and have already cancelled my contract - nothing but trouble from the start. My modem was not sent, then I was given the wrong passwords - it took a full month (and lots of frustrating telephone calls) to get online. I tried to get a refund for this period, but was refused.

The day after I finally got online, I received a letter from Virgin to say they were sorry I was changing providers. Turns out someone had instructed BT to take over my phone line for some strange reason (I live on my own). The problem is, I spent 3 days trying to tell Virgin I did not want to change providers. The customer services do not understand plain English and can not deal with a simple problem, passing you from pillar to post. I gave up and emailed them instead, but received no reply (apart from an automated message to say they had received the email) and my phone line was switched to BT this week, in somebody elses name! I am therefore offline again. Talk about pushing your customers away! I have now cancelled my broadband with them as I refuse to deal with their shoddy customer services again - it leaves you exasperated. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I have left Virgin Broadband on 12th May 2009. On 12th December 2008 they had informed me about some upgrade on my D-SLAM. Ever since then the service level was appaling. On speedtest, on average I had 0.4 Mb whereas in my area up to 8Mb is a norm. The worst thing is that, anytime I called them, they never, ever tried to find the problem on their side. It was always my problem. They made me buy a new router for 70 quid, saying that the old one is broken, also suggesting changing motherboard on P ...

Like many of my fellow reviewers, I have had the same experience with Virgin.net.Speed: 1 out of 10Customer Service: 0 out of 10Reliability: MINUS 10 out of ten.Thes service was slow; customer service poor - BUT reliability was unbelivably poor. Been with them for 11 months and will be changing next month. In this time the service has been down at least 5 times for periods of over 4 days each time.

For me speeds vary from poor to abysmal (files recently downloaded at around 25kbps, poor, to 4 (yes 4!) kbps - slower than dial-up, abysmal).

Many contacts on-line and via e-mail, but were all completely unhelpful I feel. They just kept sending me a standard reply telling me to check my wiring, filters, system etc, even though I told them time and time again that I'd done this.

Anyway, I've just cancelled (30 days notice) and asked for a MAC code. When I cancelled they didn't even ask me why. ...

I have taken out broadband L which according to virgin is already 10mb connection in my area. I did get 10mb for the first 14 days and after that period it went down to 0.01 mb. I have been on the phone for 2 months and after speaking to numerous different people I was told to contact my wireless router manufacturer to my pc and laptop manufacturers to repairers and after just about 2 months I have decided I will cancel my contract and soon after putting in cancellation request I recieved a call ...

I do not recommend Virgin Broadband, Doesnt seem to work for me at all and no-one seems to be in the call centre when I ring... Everytime I called it has been over 45minutes at least.

Promise speeds up to 20meg but u hardly get 0.30meg most of the time. Contacted several occasions for 2 months. Excuses one after the other. Try to give reasons and when you prove them wrong. They say that they can only promise speeds up to 20 meg. I pay for 10meg connection and I was getting 9 meg 2 months ago when I connected with virgin media. After 14 days speed went down from 9 meg to 0.30meg and most times even less. That ' s connecting directly bypassing wireless router. I even connected ...

I have only had good experiences with Virgin and after just 2 months of being with them, I realise it may be tempting fate to say too many good things about them. However, they are without doubt the best ISP I've ever used to date over the last 12 years and everyone at Virgin that I have dealt with has been extremely professional, helpful and focused on sorting me out.The 10meg package is superb. I have the free 24/7 phone call package added also.

Very slow, unhelpful customer services in my experience. Stupid cap system to not slow and stop people excessively download but also not be able to download or use the internet for anything. I got a email back which said my cap speed during peak hours is 4-12 but in other speedtests I got a speed between 56k/isdn. As I play games like CSS and use ventrilo I cant during peak hours as I start to experience this heavy lag speaking to people. Also not able to play CSS as my ping is low but choke and ...

    1. on adsl, if you download more than 5G per month betwen 4pm & midnight any day of the week, you get rate limited for the rest of the month regardless until the end of month reset date. The rate limit is about 50kbits shared, which means your using a shared pipe with how many other users and end up getting downloads of less than 5k bits per second, or about the speed of a 14.4k modem. rate limiting is active every day including sunday which is not peak time.
    2. paying for support calls to virgi ...

In the past it was good under blueyonder, I can only think NTL have dad there input into Virgin and it's gone down as far as I am concerned. I have been a loyal person to cable, but this is a show stopper for me. I downloaded a few iso and streamed a few movies over the month and I'm been capped since. I wasn't informed as far as I am aware, but download speed has got to 6kb/s. I swear my modem used to be quicker.
It was hard writing this article, but I will be leaving in august. As I work from ...

I personally haven't had any problems in 3 years of NTL broadband now virgin broadband but I've heard of areas being out of service but not long though!
Could have changed and got it cheaper somewhere else and even got a free router but virgin has been reliable to me so sticking with it!

I was a satisfied Virgin customer for 4 years but in Feb 2008 speed between 4pm-12pm dropped to dial up rate as far as I am concerned (previously I averaged 2-3mb). Apparently Virgin have introduced software to limit bandwidth during peak time. Problem was that this meant using web was a waste of time given speed. Despite many complaints as far as I am aware they did nothing and ultimately their 3rd line technical support suggested I change provider. Note to them I'm classified as a light user a ...

Signed up for basic 2 Meg broadband with Virgin Broadband and phone with quick start package. Please at first as broadband came in at 2 Megs but disappointed when it dropped to 123K by early evening and a pathetic 73K by 20.00. Called help desk 3 times during the day to get the phone connected but was told that "Admin were too busy to deal with it" No phone by next day so I canceled, still waiting for them to collect the modem, I guess they are still too busy!

I have been very unhappy with Virgin Broadband, they have been very hard to conact even via their premium rate number. When I do finally get through I just seem to get through to complaints and they put me to any other department to get rid of me.
I would never use quick start package again, came late and for me never worked after 4 hours on the phone to them.
In my experience the supposed 6 meg runs at best at 1.5 meg... I would recommend to avoid Virgin Broadband as a Broadband Internet Pro ...

Unlimited service is nothing of the kind in my opinion with Virgin. I do not download excessively but was put on the "throttle list" regardless. Apparently, according to customer services, all of their throttle list members claim not to download much. Service is one of the worst I have ever used - the implication is that downloading large files can only be done through piracy. Unless you use Sky Anytime. Or 4 on Demand. Or Steam. Customer services seemed unaware of any legitimate use for the int ...

In my opinion - Do not sign up to Virgin, I was lucky to download above. A constant 10kpbs and every time I opened a page I would have to refresh at least five times to connect to the page, I'm now waiting for my MAC so be warned.
