Recommended by friends. Managed to get an early Saturday evening slot from a morning booking. Atmosphere pleasant and staff attentive but not intrusive. Black pudding canapes not to everyone's taste, but food overall superb. Good quality wines by the glass. Highlights - Venison, Lamb, Panna Cotta and the best cheeseboard I've come across(10 -all British - to choose from - have 3,5,or all 10 - I'd recommend the mid option for a real cheesy!). Not cheap, but it's worth paying for this quality. VERY highly recommended.

There isn't an occassion I wouldn't want to celebrate at the Red Cat. The food is amazing, the portions are average sized and not over facing meaning I can easily manage three courses. The canapes are beautiful and always surprising, once getting a shot of cream of Jeruselum artichoke soup and another smoked salmon with caviar. I have twice had the venison which was delious and cooked to perfection.

We've now visited The Red Cat several times and it is by far the best restaurant I have been ...

After a comprehensive refurbishment, the Red Cat is a now a nice casual dining restaurant,in my opinion it's the best restaurant in Lancashire
