When I purchased the lens it was to allow me to leave the one lens on the camera for most of my shooting. In the end I very rarely took this lens off the camera. Everyone has their lens range of choice and at the time this was exactly what suited my vision. I have since moved into the wide angle range and now a 12-24 f4 (on a DX)seems to be the preferred standard (or me).
I do have lots of other lenses but they do not get a lot of use.

I was very disappointed with the Nikon Nikkor 24-50 AF D lens. It produced sharp and contrasty images initially, but then only 1 year later the lens was getting shaky and loosing sharpness… Read Full Review

This is a good lens. The optics are really good but my experiences with the build quality leaves me having to rate the lens lower. I was carrying mine and the camera swung around on the strap when I was turning and the front edge of the filter struck a counter top. Not a great blow at all but the filter ring split and I had to do a self help repair with thin layers of plastic glue.
