Good Points: Great length for indoor, party and group photos, have used one for years and it is the primary lens (for me) on the 35mm camera. I also used it for occasional newspaper work and it almost always covered my requirements. Size good, easy hand placement for focal length.

Bad Points: Could be more open f2.8 (but I could not afford that).

General comments: When I purchased the lens it was to allow me to leave the one lens on the camera for most of my shooting. In the end I very rarely took this lens off the camera. Everyone has their lens range of choice and at the time this was exactly what suited my vision. I have since moved into the wide angle range and now a 12-24 f4 (on a DX)seems to be the preferred standard (or me).I do have lots of other lenses but they do not get a lot of use.

I was carrying mine and the camera swung around on the strap when I was turning and the front edge of the filter struck a counter top. Not a great blow at all but the filter ring split and I had to do a self help repair with thin layers of plastic glue. It will hold a filter now (barely) and the lens hood seems to keep all in place but the hood seems to always po ...
