I have had my boots for just over a year and they are falling to pieces. The last straw was when the zip broke. They were sent back to the workshop and i had to really haggle to ensure the repairs were done free up charge - at first I was asked to pay £55, a third of the original price of the boots! The manager tried claiming that zips were 'maintainable parts', but this is no excuse for a product failing within 13 months. If better zips had been put in, then they would not need to be... Very disappointed with the cut and tailoring of the boots. The width of the boots between the UPPER ankle and LOWER calf is at least 1½-2 inches too wide. This causes the zip to fray and become detached. It reduces the shelf life of the boots from 2-3 years to 2-3 months. Very unimpressive and notably a problem experienced by a number of customers. Wore the boots 4 times before I noticed the lining had come away and the stitching was coming undone. When I contacted them about this I was told that due to the age of the boots I would have to pay for the repair and postage. Outrageous. They conceded this but then took a very long time to do the repair and then sent them back to the billing address rather than the postal address. After years of being turned away from regular shoe shops and arguing with sales assistants that no a size 8 won't fit, no I don't want men's shoes or shoes that are 50 years to old for me Duo is amazing. Because my calves are on the smaller side, I have always had problems finding boots that fit well. Then I found Duo where one can actually order by specific calf size. I've ordered countless pairs of Duo boots lately and quite honestly have spent a fortune sending them back. It's such a shame Duo don't supply a free returns label like Boden or any other slightly higher market brand. I daren't post them back normal post or I'd worry they'd go missing. Talking quickly of posting - their packing is dreadful with just one sheet of tissue paper. The boots bounce around and rub on the sides of the boxes leaving black scuff marks. I am sorry, this website and company is my go to place for nice quality wide calf boots. Customer service is quick and friendly and the shipping: three days to get to the states!!! I have over 10 pairs of duo boots, never had to return them, never had a zipper break or resole my boots. I don't wear them everyday so the life span is long. I have tried for several years on and off to buy a pair of Duo boots as I had one pair (10 years ago) which was great. Since then I have ordered and had to send the boots back several times (at an approx £8 cost to myself) due to poor fit. I ordered a pair of boots a few days ago and got a text yesterday saying they were on their way. The boots leaked immediately. Duo said that they were fashion boots not to be worn in the rain! I had only walked from the taxi across the road to my house. Getting a refund was extremely stressful even after emailing the CEO, we had to have a full blown and noisy argument with the Manageress of the Covent Garden Branch Don't bother telephoning customer services go back to the store but be prepared for a fight. I have skinny calves and these boots fitted perfectly. Customer service at the store was good and they arrived within 6 weeks as I was told. Unfortunately, one zip broke within the year and I not only paid for special delivery back to the store, I was told due to wear and tear I had to pair for repair and return postage. I ordered a pair of black boots. I followed DUOs guidelines - but the boots arrived and were so small in the calf that they cut my circulation off. I had to return them. This is where the nightmare begins. I had to pay $20 to return them through what DUO advertised as a pick up "service". There is NO service -- you pay $20 and still have to contact DHL - arrange the pick up (which takes several hours out of your day) - and wait for the pickup to be scheduled (which took a week) - and fill... But I've had my boots for nearly a year now (I ordered last August) and I've had no issues with them in that time. Barely worn over a 8 week period (if that) yet the response from customer service was that they were heavily worn and that the boots shouldn't be worn in extreme weather. Attention Canadian customers...beware of the charges your are going to face!My $400.00 purchase in what I thought was going to be Canadian dollars ended
up being over $600.00. You are not told that in fact your purchase is in US
dollars and by the time you add on taxes/exchange rate/customs/additional

tried 2 pairs of Duo boots on in the london store for size and as they had none in stock they sent them onto me. i paid over £200 for them. one pair was okay, the other thigh length pair the leather was rigid and hard, the ankle too big. I thought when i had worn them a few times the leather would soften. however as i wore them the boots increased in size around the ankle and the foot dramatically. Like the other posters, I too was suckered by the so-called great reviews.
Less than one week after getting my shoes, the rhinstones fell off and nothing but shoe goo (an industrial strength glue) would stick them back on. Then 2 months later, I notice that the leather on the heel had completely worn off due to bad heel design(too low and set too far in). The heels are barely worn themselves yet all that customer service will do is give me free shipping on muy next pair! Fat chance I'll buy...

Initially, I was thrilled. Finally, a pair of DUO boots, I'd heard so many great things.
The real story - 3 months later the leather has worn away from both heels and my heel tip has come off. According to the store and the Manager for repairs this is totally my fault. Boots became faulty after only 14 days. They were returned and I requested an exchange or refund. DUOS flatly refused and are only offering a repair. After numerous phone calls &letters the next stage is the small claims court.
DUO customer service is nonexistent. I wish I had found this site earlier.

am so fed up with Duo Boots, I measured my calf and ordered the exact size, when they arrived they were huge on the calf and really snug on he ankle. So I ordered (after telephoning them) a different model in 8cm smaller - I could not do it up at all...so depressing... They charge £5 delivery even though the boots are expensive and you also have to £5 pay to send them back...I have now tried 4 different boots and the postage prevents me from trying more...maybe they should do an exact... My wife checked out serveral customer reviews for Duo boots, some good, some bad. Despite the bad reviews she went ahead and ordered a pair of brown leather boots which she was desperate for as most, if not all, high street stores do not cater for larger calf sizes.

I bought a pair of Duo boots from their Edinburgh retail store and found the whole service to be excellent. I first had a look on their website for boots and I found a pair I wanted easily. But I wanted to get fitted properly so went to the Edinburgh store where the staff were very accomodating and very friendly. Couldn't recommend them highly enough. And once I'd ordered my boots I got them delivered by Duo to an address in London within a couple days. Perfect, all-round service. (read more)
