unfortunately Argos they chose the worse bank ( Vanquis Bank ) to to handle Argos credit card. I submit my details on the website and I keep receiving calls on my mobile and at home asking to take more details. Last one was today Sunday 24/03/2013 at 12:00 which was very rude person calling to take more details, over talking me in nonprofessional way. I took this for a saving on purhcases on the day. Firstly, I was staggered by the £500 limit! The only lower limit I have ever had was £250 - back in 1974! My others are into thousands. But, as I didn't really intend to use it, there was no problem.
I did use it and when I tried to register online, I was told 2 parts didn't match their records. I then rectified the errors with Customer Services and was told to try again in 24 hours.

They only gave me a £1000 credit limit - the lowest on any card I've ever had.
Now I know why.
It's so you're likely to go over the limit, and they can charge you £12. (Why can't they just not authorise the transaction?)
Now, you might think a £1000 limit would be OK. So did I, as I typically spend £500 per month, and pay t off in full by direct debit.
However, they seem to hold off from taking the first payment. The result is that the balance varies from 500 - 1000, rather than from 0 -...

i applied for this card just for the sake of money back rewards, been doing timely payments had no problem using the card but the rewards never got one calling customer services is of no use, the only answer i used to get was there was a system error the reward voucher is on its way but never got one. but have been paying telephone bills calling 0845 numbers. I too have had difficulties with PIN number changes that the Barclaycard systems don't pick up from Barclays ATMs. Contacting the call centre is like trying to have an intelligent conversation with a Stepford Wife. They don't work for Argos or for Barclaycard. It's some other company answering the calls so they don't care. They get paid whether the service is good or bad. Applied for the Argos mastercard due to the generous money back scheme. Have spent thousands on the card but never received any noney back. Phoned customer services which is an 0845 number so it actually costs you to complain about there bad services. Thi shas to be the worst customer experience in the credit card industry. Run by BARCLAYCARD for Home Retail Group, the Argos card customer service centre is dire - long queues, staff who don't even understand what an authorised user card is, or how to re-set a PIN. Written complaints to them and to Argos Senior Executives in Milton Keynes are unanswered. The PINs they issue don't work in Argos shops. Since receiving the card I have not been able to use it in the shop as the computer did not reconise the correct pin.
I cannot use it on the phone or the internet as the computer does not reconise my address.
I cannot use it at the hole in the wall as the computer states I have been to the hole in the wall to often.
I have spent 2 hours on the phone but the card provider states the pin and the address are correct so there is not a faught.

The reason I choose the Argos mastercard over others is for the voucher scheme. The major problem is getting hold of the voucher. When I got the card the term stated that I will be getting the vouchers every three months. Highly recommended! I took out the card in August because it gave me 2% back for my shopping (I was buying a table for my dining room). I've also used it for my petrol recently, and I've just recieved £35 in Argos vouchers! Not bad for 3 months worth of spend (it beats Nectar).
You can also buy a whole range of Argos stuff at discount on their website - You just can't loose.
My advice would be to take this out now before they get wise and increase the APR or put some other spending...

The your rewards section is great for money off deals even the buy £50 vouchers get £10 voucher (20% free) free deal is worth getting every month if your a big spender at argos as its the best voucher deal available (some mastercards do a buy £50 vouchers for £45 which only works out at 10% free. Overall the card lacks on a customer service side but makes up for this in the very good rewards you can get. (read more)

Customer service very poor, promised to do somethings than never done them. They have to call you back with almost all queries. They charged me unpaid direct debit fee when money was collected from my bank account and the credit card statement shows a credit balance. In essence, the card requires purchases to be paid by the due date on the next-but-one statement. For example, if you may a purchase in January, you need to pay it off by the due date on the March statement (not February's). Wow, that really does not seem fair. Firstly even for those with good/excellent credit rating only get between 2 and 3 thousand for the first 6 months or so and you really have to have some credit history to get that and secondly if the scored you so highly to give you £6000 then cancel it, it does not seem right.

<br/>My only thoughts on how it could of happened is if they accidentally gave you £6000 when they only meant to give you say £3000 and to save face they cancelled your card. But if that is the reason surely they would of been better off just writing to you and explaining what happened and they are just reducing your credit limit - as you said, credit card customers are big business to them.

I found this review helpful because...it rings true to a similar experience I have had with their partnership company Barclays who have just given me the same spew after cancelling a card I had with them for over a year (without any late payments etc at all in that time. My credit history is perfect also).

I found this review helpful because I've had a similar experience with vouchers which were promised not appearing. I have stopped using this card and will never use it again. I put some large purchases on it which could have gone onto other cards which I have which would have given me cash or vouchers. I have been cheated. The call centre never respond to my calls.
