“Poor Quality”

In 5 years have had 3 heater elements, 3 fans, 2 valve blocks, 1 grill, and a number of circuit boards. The stoves engineer now tells me that when you are cooking and the ovens switch off themselves, and spoil your food, just disconnect the electrics for 30 minutes, it should start again,and not to worry this is normal. So spoil food and inconvienience is acceptable to Stoves. What a farce. (read more)
“Do Not Buy This Oven - Waste of money”

We bought this oven 2 years ago as we liked the way it looked, ironically we had bought the exact same oven 5 years before that and had nothing but trouble with it. The first time we bought this oven the knobs peeled within a couple of months, we spoke to the manufacturers and they sent us replacement knobs twice as the same kept happening. In the end after several calls they sent out an engineer who altered the fan in the top oven/grill and the problem with the peeling knobs ceased. So 2... (read more)

Love the looks of this double oven but wish I had read the reviews before parting with my cash. I am now onto my second pair of control knobs and they have melted too, heating to such a dangerous level that I almost blisted my fingers. The grill ignition sparks continuously and the oven kicks out so much heat to the outside that its a wonder any stays within the oven to cook the food. (read more)

We have had this oven for just two years. Like all the other reviewers we have had problems with melting control knobs and poor performance from the grill. Looks good but don't be fooled. Stoves no longer exist and the name has been bought by some mickey mouse outfit. Our previous Stoves cooker was brilliant with years of trouble free service. We will replace the whole lot with something more reliable. We will be consulting Trading Standards. (read more)

You buy because it is a great name and looks so stylish.
It fails to deliver in any practical sense. Is dangerous due to the excessive heat it throws out and the constant re-igniting of the flame.
Don't touch - a total waste of money and I'm extremey disappointed.

I have had this Oven for just over a year. The control knobs have melted with the heat and we have had numerous replacements. The fan has now broken down and it is no longer under guarantee. The flames from the grill lick out and have nearly burnt my eye brows on numerous occasions. Trading standards have been informed and I am awaiting their response. A poor piece of equipment. I would never recommend this oven to anyone. (read more)

Ist day oven cooling fan did not work, so oven did not operate, Stoves said could not send service engineer for 9 days
They said delay due to illness of service staff, later found the reason to be they are inundated with calls to faulty ovens
Underside of worktop and contols get excessively hot,and in my opinion dangerous

We have had the same problem as the previous reviewer with the control knobs being destroyed by the heat from the top oven. We have bought 2 replacement pairs but the same happens each time. They get too hot to touch therefore the oven design probably doesn't meet standards. Don't be fooled - the original Stoves company does not exist any more - the name badge was bought by a company called Glen Dimplex appliances. I have owned the GDO700 for around 3 years now, and have had nothing but problems with it, the grill melts the controls as there is no guard (bad design) the fan broke down, the oven doors had to be realigned twice by an engineer. The display panel had been replaced twice as the thing is glued and the glue is useless. Now I am in the process of looking for another oven as the burner on the main oven is now not working. I have had the Stoves 700GDO fixed by stoves more times than I've cooked hot dinners and its not 5 years old yet!! and it is always the same problem you also wait 2 weeks between each fix. My Mother had a stoves gas cooker for 20 years never had a problem me I seem to have a dud and when you pay in the region of 800 quid you kind of expect it to work but the pcb board has a shelf life of 12 months and costs me 149.00 to fix every time thanks stoves!!! I love every minute I cook with my Stoves 700GDO, and therefore don't mind having spent every 519pounds of my hard earned cash on it. This is a great double oven which has served already many dinner parties during it's 2 months existence in my house. (read more)
