    Bad Points: cheating clients


    General comments: I booked a hotel in Cyprus via the Old City Tourism website around 1 year ago. Everything was fine at first, I was charged the amount I should be charged, my room was waiting for me. Everything was fine until next month, when my credit card was charged for 400 EUR just for nothing. The rest of the story is as other people describe - contact number did not pick up the phone, e-mails were not answered. I immediately asked my bank to cancel my credit card and I wrote a claim to credit card company. After 3 months of investigation these 400 EUR were taken off my credit card.

    One week ago i booked a hotel in London. Actually as I thougt trough Hotel collect. Unfortunaley this money has been charged from this Old City Tourism company in Istanbul. First of all I never received an answer. I tried several time to call them on a free UK-number. always out of work. I wrote several E-Mails. no answer. I stopped immediately my credit card.
    After that I called directly this booked hotel. The reservation was done, but I had no voucher. Over 4 companys I came back to this Hote ...

    6 months after the stay I noticed that my credit card had been debited again for the same amount. This was queried with the credit card providers who promptly removed the amount from my bill having had the original item identified to them on a previous account. Fortunately no more contact. Only putting this on now as I had not seen this website previously and wanted to add my experience with Old City Tourism.

    Old City Tourism has no good points in my view, they told me my booking was done, they took my money, but when I arrived at the hotel, no booking, I phoned them and they told me: "Unfortunately your booking has been cancelled. We have sent your payment to your account". I did not receive anything, and I tried to contact them several times.
    I wouldn't book anything with them. Check other messages in other web before you do something.

    Old Tourism, they have over charged me £315 and until now (nearly 6 months), they still yet to refund the money to me. I am finding it impossible to contact them. I would never use Old City Tourism again!!

    Booked hotel in Krakow last December was told I had run out of time doing the transaction so did it again. in January noticed that the price was cheaper so cancelled my first reservation as they said i would be refunded in full, I then re booked the hotel at the cheaper rate When my statement came I had been charged three times with no refund.     I booked a hotel with Old City Tourism in February 2008 and they deducted in the full amount of £447 from my account. Everything seemed to be ok. 2 days later they deducted the same amount out again. After numerous phone calls and emails, and 2 months later I am still £447 short. I have contacted the office of fair trading and cancelled my debit card to stop them taking any more out!

    We booked 3 nights in a hotel in Dublin in March 08 and paid in full by credit card about 10 days after the booking. One week later we were charged another £227. Tried to contact by e-mail and phone - no help from anyone. Our credit card company is investigating our claim and the moment. I would not recommend this company.

    I booked a hotel in Thailand with old city tourism using my credit card, 2 months later the company tried to debit my credit card a second time but this was blocked my my bank. Then Old City Tourism phoned me and told me the hotel I had booked was in fact overbooked and that I would get a refund. This never happened, total loss 645euros.

    I booked a long weekend in Edinburgh with Old City Tourism costing £390 at the Carlton Hotel. After making the booking I rang the hotel to check that the booking had been made and to my shock the receptionist informed me that no booking had been processed. ALARM BELLS STARTED RINGING VERY LOUDLY. I rang to cancel my credit card but unfortunately £390 had already been debited from my credit card by an Istanbul company old city tourism.

    In January 2008 Old City Tourism took whole amount for our booking straight away, £700. They then tried to take it again but fortunately card company queried and stopped it. I rang hotel in Switzerland to find no booking had been made, so I e-mailed to cancel reservation on 6th March. Immediate reply but no refund. 17th March e-mailed to say the money had been refunded but it still hasn't, and my card company is now dealing with it.

    How are they allowed to advertise? I'm shocked and upset ...

    I've booked with Old City Tourism a Hotel in Bali. First of all, my credit card has been charged twice. Additionaly, one day before my departure, the booking has been cancelled by Old City Tourism. Therefore, I had to pay the bill for the third time. Old City Tourism: Never again

    I tried booking for a hotel in Munich but it came back not available so I then tried another hotel, and again this hotel was not available. Did not think nothing of it until I got my credit card statement showing that money for the two unavailable hotels I tried to book were taken. Tried calling them on the UK number provided but this was not even connected so tried the worldwide number which I assume is based in Turkey. Got through to someone in the accounts department who said they would refun ...

    They took two payments of £378.33 from my credit card after telling me they couldn't make a reservation I'd asked for. I phoned the hotel in question they had plenty of rooms available. I mailed them several times using their website form - they never replied. I phoned them and was fobbed off with statements i.e. that they had already refunded the money.My credit card company has just refunded me. This has all taken about about 8 weeks.

    I booked hotels in Lisbon and London. They charged my credit card and sent me vouchers. Everything appeared to be okay. Then they charged my credit again for the London hotel. I sent several queries to them asking them to reverse the double booking but received NO RESPONSE from them. I arranged for VISA to reverse the double charge which they did and then cancelled the original booking. Old City sent me an email stating they would reverse the charge withing 7 days.     I booked a hotel in Nice for 3 nights in May for £133 (I'm now trying to contact the hotel direct to see if my booking actually exists - which I'm not very optimistic about, having read these reviews!!). Between making the booking in August last year & yesterday, Old City Tourism have debited my account for £1007 over 4 separate transactions for no reason whatsoever. My credit card Company are in the process of rechargintg them at the moment.

    Same thing as all these people happened to me. Reserved hotel with Old City tourism. Email followed saying hotel had no room. Then money taken off credit card account. No answer when phoned them. In the hands of my bank now.

    Good hotel in Krakow booked for 3 nights, at this point no problems. Never had this happen to me in a life time of credit card use.
    Hotel reservation charged to my credit card account November 07, then to my surprise again in Jan.08. Problem still to be resolved, credit card company are investigating.
    Initially thought it could be a error until reading numerous complaints about this company.
    Would never use this agent again and advise everyone to be careful before booking

    I booked a room in London in August 07 which I paid and used the room but three months later Old City Tourism took double the money out of my account for no reason. My bank wont help because it was a visa debit payment so I'm not sure what to do now. Very frustrating.

    I checked on their website for a room in Adelaide and they replied that the room is not available. They deducted the amount from my credit card anyway. I've deleted their emails and can't find their website now! Can anyone help and advise? I don't want to pay for something I haven't booked!
