“Terrible”

Written on: 01/09/2014 by Brentw296 (1 review written)

TD Direct I have been with for years. I have suffered a lot of pain. Never respond to mail, correspondence and they take months to do transfer requests. Trading platform is on/off - luck if it works at all. Customer service has sunk to an all time low and I am moving everything now. … Read Full Review

“Terrible platform, service and charges”

Written on: 27/08/2014 by Chaney469 (1 review written)

I have a trading ISA with TD Direct and have to say, although it is easy to use, the trading platform is terrible. Non of the stock monitoring works and their prices/changes are delayed by around an hour so you have to use other services like google finance just to keep up to the minute on your shares. Their phone app only lets you monitor your account and won't let you transfer in or trade at all and it constantly crashes. At £12.50 a trade for the UK its pretty average in comparison to… Read Full Review

“Absolutely Awful in nearly every aspect”

Written on: 07/07/2014 by AleenaFox (1 review written)

TD waterhouse are completely disorganised. You should AVOID THEM. I have had numerous porblems with them - transferring in, horrendous FX charges, wrongly stated accounts, non executed trades, and to cap it off when leaving them because of all these issues, terrible delays trying to exit. This includes SIPP, ISA and standard brokerage service. Very stressful interacting with them and trying to resolve queries. They do not log calls properly. Overall I would advise anyone to not got near them… Read Full Review

“Great for online trading”

Written on: 23/06/2014 by Bradford456 (1 review written)

This is an easy platform to use and great fro trading electronically. However, they have many hidden admin fees and their customer service does need improving. Most of the (English) call center staff seem unwilling to help and have been rude to me in the past. This needs to be addressed. … Read Full Review

“Poor SIPP administration”

Written on: 25/03/2014 by Greta336 (1 review written)

I have a SIPP and Trading account with TD Direct Investing since 2010. Their service has gone from okay to poor. IF you are thinking of opening a SIPP with them, stay away! Let me tell you about my experiences: 1) My employer wants to make a single contribution. I send in a form to "authorize" it. TD does not allow my employer to pay in, or amend any standing orders or direct debits, without prior "approval" by me. Fine. I send in the single contribution form. They tell me it's out of date… Read Full Review

“Terrible Service Expensive Account Costs”

Written on: 07/11/2013 by Rabberto (7 reviews written)

As others have said,TD's platform is pretty ropey. They never seem to have data/graphs for shares outside the UK. Their support during corporate actions is poor, you end up having to searching the internet to find out what is going on. When my wife recently closed her ISA which only held cash all stocks had already been sold, TD charged £100 to close the account. What a bunch of robbers… Read Full Review

“Very poor customer service”

Written on: 04/09/2013

I live in 3 UK, France and Cyprus. I have been using TDW for many years without a problem then I was asked to complete a W8-BEN form for the US authorities in early 2013. Since then I have had numerous letters saying they can not accept the form for varying reasons. Finally 10 days ago having submitted the form for the 4th time my account has been blocked. I am unable to trade at a very sensitive time simply because of the inadequacy of their administration. Unbelievably poor service ethic made… Read Full Review

“Avoid”

Written on: 13/08/2013 by vickersa (2 reviews written)

Shouldn't be allowed to operate in UK, unfit for purpose. Website is unstable, only works (sort of) with obsolete versions of IE. Prices often unavailable or out of date on anything but the most common UK stocks. Customer service by phone non-existent (once you get through the interminable wait) - no-one ever has any authority to do anything, and they NEVER call you back. They are unable to deal with any but the most simple of corporate actions. A disgraceful outfit… Read Full Review

“Completely lost in their own fantasty world.”

Written on: 07/08/2013

Never consider TD Waterhouse. Turn and run away from them. We never dreamt that such a loser service could possibly exist. Each form had to be refilled 3 or 4 and resubmitted times cause they lost them all or gave the wrong instructions. No has a clue whats going on. Their website says that if the minimum number of trades is not completed then you pay a fee, $20 or $30. Their agents, after receiving all our investment funds, reused to give us their service, other than the totally useless… Read Full Review

I am extremely frustrated with TDWATERHOUSE ONLINE WEB BROKER, this company has been having constant problems with providing real time quotes, accounts are not up to date on daily bases, but that is not the only problem, there are no days or weeks that we do not have problem with this company logging in our accounts. Far too many trades fail and there starting price for trades is £12.50p and not competitive at all. Couple this with admin fees per quarter if you do not trade and it works out expensive! Too many trades fail when you hit the buy or sell button causing financial loss and heartache! STAY AWAY!!!!… Read Full Review

“FEES RIP OFF ”

Written on: 23/04/2013

I opened a Trading ISA with TD Waterhouse making a small £200 deposit in February 2013. I added to my account in early April to make full use of 2012/13 ISA allowance. Having tried unsuccessfully to buy the stock I wanted through their website I closed my account. I have been charged £96 admin fee to close the account - fees are hidden away and you can't access the information until you have registered on their site. I would not have tried to buy my ISA through them if I had known I would be… Read Full Review

Just had the exact same experience and was completely shocked at the unjustified and hidden charges. I wondered why I had to leave £100 in the TD ISA account when I was closing it, to be allowed to transfer the rest of the balance out to my bank account. Of course they later confirmed during a phone call to close the account that their charge was ________You Guessed It £100

“I feel like I have been mugged”

Written on: 25/03/2013

I wanted to close a self-select ISA and phoned to do so. I was hanging on the phone for over half an hour and then told it costs me £100 to close my ISA!!! This is disgusting daylight robbery and is on top of the annual admin fee that they charge and many other providers do not. I will never touch them again… Read Full Review

“Client service has fallen to pieces”

Written on: 19/03/2013

We were originally with ETrade UK who were fantastic - you got intelligent people on the phone who actually helped, consistently, and communicated properly by email or letter. When ETrade closed down in the UK we were transferred to TD Waterhouse (now TD Direct - why?) Since then everything has gone downhill - we had a nightmare with a power of attorney for aged parents, the web site contact is not getting replies, you can wait on their telephone number for 30 minuts or more before speaking to… Read Full Review

“TD Waterhouse (Now TD Direct Investing)”

Written on: 11/03/2013

Only used for UK stocks / funds. It soon became obvious to me that if you want anything done other than buying / selling online (in my case I wanted to transfer in shares via a certificate)they are completely and utterly useless. Excessive times, ignoring client instructions, no communication or incorrect communication. I have moved, suggest you consider their poor customer service (premium rate numbers only) before joining… Read Full Review

“No execution of limit order”

Written on: 26/02/2013 by guirinec (1 review written)

I put a limit order, although the share price went well above and volumes were strong, the order did not get executed. During one month I did not know wether the order was executed as my holdings of the stock was zero. Share price of the stock declined and it appeared the order did not go through. I lost £400, of course the stock price could recover. However the response of TD waterhouse was insulting "we will provide our best endeavour for execution" etc. As a result I have transfered my… Read Full Review

“30 minute wait times not uncommon”

Written on: 23/01/2013

I have been on hold for the last 30 minutes trying to get through to customer service. This is the second time this has happened in the last fortnight. When the service works its good, but the website is poorly laid out and you often have to speak to someone because you can't find the answer you want on it. If you then have to wait 30 mins - well, it's awful. I would avoid… Read Full Review
