Total load of rubbish, if the PVR was more reliable then it might be worth considering, the PVRs are top up tv main problem, crashing, freezing, corrupt recordings, there is no point having content some may want to watch when the hardware does not allow you to watch it, if I had known how bad the PVR was going to be I would never of bought it not to mention the money wasted on subscriptions and phone calls to top up tv CS full of promises that have never materialised, there are much better PVRs that work.

Have used Top Up TV Anytime service since it started, programme quality has improved and is a good way of topping up Freeview cheaply. Probably not ideal for a major couch potato but ideal for just that bit extra choice

I was a top up customer from there launch in 2003 and loved the service when it was live channels, I signed up for the Anytime service and stayed with it for a year before finally giving in and moving to BT Vision. The Anytime box is sooo bug ridden, I got only 50% of my downloads while with them because the box decided they where corrupt! It missed so many recordings that I went back to my DVD recorder because it coundn't be trusted. The customer support is appalling, no help really.I just dumped ...

Top up tv is cheap alternative to sky or virgin. But definately is NOT an equivalent. It only offers 3 channels live. The rest are downloaded over night and drastically reduce the available disk drive. Personally I didn't take the top up option and have instead a pvr at a great price of 89.99 for 160gB machine. One major drawback is it is prone to freezing, requiring it to be unplugged. A software upgrade has since exacerbated rather than solved problems as it now permanently mutes on occasion.

Customer service is a waste of time, they try to send a signal to you box, and it makes no difference. I have had two DTR boxes which have done nothing but crash and freeze every few minutes. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone!

Top Up TV Anytime and Top Up TV DTR
    Ordering and Delivery -
Top up TV can be ordered online or via phone. You can also purchase in retailers such as Argos, Curry's etc.

I choose to order mine online and it was not the best experience. The online ordering system told me it was unable to process my request and I had to ring up. When I did in fact ring up they told me my order had not been completed and I couldn't do it over the phone as it was a special offer.
    I was attempting to join the 12 m ...

Excellent choice for people (who like me) hate lengthly contracts as it is a 'pay as you go' service. Also a good alternative to Sky if you're in a rented property or not in a cabled area.
Top Up TV Anytime offers just the right mix of programmes to suit most people's needs and the equipment is very easy to use. If you like movies, Picture Box offers a good choice of movies which, cost wise, works out about 17p per movie.
Worth giving a go as the equipment is very reasonable and you get a mont ...

For only 9.99 a month there are over 150 programs a month loaded to the box. I believe its very good value for money.

I have had Top Up TV Anytime for almost a year now, and am 90% pleased with the service. I pre-ordered my box, so I was subjected to the worst of the problems the box has suffered through it's software development. A year on and the box is almost flawless. All of the initial problems are now gone, and the software team is devoted to making this box the best on the market by introducing new features and actively participating in discussions with customers on public forums.

I don't really know what to add to what the last reviewer said in their excellent review, so I'm really just here to defend what I think is a great little service.
There are so many people on here that are quick to slam Top Up TV Anytime, but they all have one thing in common, they are comparing it to digital TV services from SKY, Virgin media, BT and others. It is natural, but wrong that they should do so as TUTV Anytime is nothing like them at all, the other services are for people who want t ...

Having been a subscriber to Top Up TV since July 2004, I was pleased with the original service, and was slightly disappointed to hear that Five wanted some of the broadcast space back and that Top Up TV had to evolve into an Overnight VOD service. Also I was a bit disappointed to learn that my current PVR would not be suited to the service, and that a new PVR (DTR) would be required. However, since receiving my DTR in December 2006, I've been pleasantly surprised by both the technology and the s ...

The box does what it is supposed to, although it does have its glitches, TopUp TV 's engineering department are actively trying to sort out any problems and are very helpful on Digital Spy, they post there and answer questions posted by forum members. I have every faith that they will sort out the remaining problems.

Don't subscribe unless you realise that all they supply is one or two programmes per channel per evening. i.e. you can look at the TV guide in the paper and plan to watch that good movie only to find that Top-Up-TV have decided only to send one from the whole days viewing, and obviously not the one you want!
A really poor selection that's not worth the money. At £10.80 per month for a license for BBC1 & 2 et al, you get much better value!
A ps would be customer service are very polite an ...

Really bad customer service that are rude and expect you to know everything (customer service: that's what it's there for!). Also, channels are only available between certain hours when you are least likely to be watching TV. I would not recommend this product to anybody as the experience we had was awful.
    Not Impressed.

Very bad and misleading customer 'service'. Was told they would send out a new box and to wait in on a certain day, only to get a letter saying 'they want the original box back first'... which isn't what they said on the phone and is very bad customer service to say that, and from a supervisor who refused to give his name! When I rang them up again (and paid 4 pounds to be put on hold) I was told to send it back, (at MY expense) in the 'original packaging' (which I recycled and never keep!) When ...

I've been with normal Top Up TV and the Anytime package. Whilst staff seem nice, the technical competence is worrying. They don't seem to be able to provide what they promise. The hardware for the Top Up TV Anytime service in particular was terrible.
