Good Points: Powerful motor, which drills through just about anything with ease - almost too easily, so you have to be careful to control the depth of holes! Hitachi claim 3 joule impact power on the hammer action, and I can believe it.
Bad Points: Noisy, but then most SDS drills are. Gets hots very quickly, with lots of initial oil escape from the chuck, which I'm told can be expected, so it's messy at first : clutch can be slow to 'kick in' when drill jams.
General comments: The Hitachi DH24PC3 SDS Drill looks a bit like a training shoe designer has been let loose on this, but it is a businesslike drill all the same!
I had problems with the first one which was replaced, but this may have been due to a faulty (loose) SDS chisel bit. The replacement has been excellent so far. Cuts chases well with hammer impact setting - not as good as a Bosch equivalent which I tried, but this one was on offer, so I think is fair value for the money I paid (under £150).
