I think that the Mitchell Avocet Big Surf 6500 is a great reel, I brought one ages ago and I have a few others reel but this is still up there as a decent one. You can also pick these up for a pretty decent price as well.

Although designed for the beach fisherman, I bought 2 of these reels for my spod & marker float rods when carp fishing. They are big pit reels and come with 2 aluminium spools, one deep & one shallow with is great for braid. Main features of the reel are 3+1 ball bearings, instant infinate anti-reverse & a superb multi-disc drag system which goes from freespin to locked up with just one full turn of the drag knob, which means they can be used as carp reels using the drag as a baitrunner, just ...
