THe HP dv6 laptop developed a start up fault after 18 months which is a nightmare. I bought HP because I thought I would be buying reliability. I would buy a Toshiba or Asus next time about £200 cheaper and just as good. I have had both previously and they lasted years.

Great for business or office application. Worthless for games. Cannot play anything past direct x 8 without lagging horribly. Call of duty 4 on Lowest details lags beyond playability and my 9600xt with a p4(6yr old videocard) can play that game on full details with shadows without lag. VIdeocard is not as advertised. In this day of age where a pentium II can do office work and watch movies i would expect a lot more from a amd turion 64 and 330mb videocard. Don't expect to play games on this laptop. applications run ok if laptop is defragged and under 50% memory but after that the laptop starts lagging.

In DJ roo laptop become a part of fire. During performance suddenly freezes after becoming really hot. (I'm doing video show) I bought a fan for under laptop so now is little bit better than before.
Week I bought I realized that DVD room is not reading some of DVD's even original dvd's and battery life was maximum 1h 30min. So I went to seller at 7th day and he said if I give laptop back they will send it to HP so after 1 week I can get it back. But it was time for parties I'm a VJ and couldn't give laptop for 1 week as I had party that time. So still I have problem with my laptop I will buy another laptop soon and it will not be HP anymore. Sony or Apple even its expensive I don't care this cost me more. I ordered Extra battery and extra dvd room.
Its new technology core 2 due etc. Those things are ok. But maybe under computer its written made in China. All problem is because of this maybe.

Nice keyboard, comfortable. Lot's of usb's. Nice display. However, the machine is built around Vista, yet doesn't come with the hardware to run Vista effectively. Terrible battery life. Get's extremely hot. Annoying fan. DVD burner malfunctions, won't recognize when there is a disc in drive. I wouldn't get another notebook from HP. Build your own, or get a mac.

Great screen and resolution, the nVidia chipset allows to use all the main improves for Vista. In my case, the keyboard falls down after two days of the purchase and doesn't work. Check for apple or another, the post-sell service is many times better.
