HORRIFFIC machine, never from HP because their support for their products is the worst i have ever come accross. the machine has packed up completly now, and would require a new motherboard costing about £200 for HP too fix (after having atleast 2 under warranty). The processor and the graphics chip get so hot that the graphics chip and the bios chip have effectively de-soldered themselves from the motherboard (at different times). and will not boot unless pressure is applied to the bios chip (or other chips around that area) to stick it back to the motherboard to allow it to even POST. Other things that have gone wrong with this machine within the 3 years of ownership are: the wireless, the bluetooth, the card reader AND the cd drive stopped working (all seperate parts of the machine, this says something about build quality!!). I have had this pc for about 3 years now and HP have pretty much given up on me, after it being back and forth to hp atleast 4-5, mabye more times (so many i have lost count) i was never offered a replacement. When the machine works, it is quite good, but it is VERY un-relliable. i will never buy from HP again because of this machine, and would not advise anyone else to buy from hp, because their customer service is REALLY irratating (takes atleast 3 phone calls to convince them your machine needs fixing).

I have never had any problems with hp pavillion dv6000. It runs perfectly and it the fan noise isn't too loud either. Although it can get quite hot when being used for long periods of time. sometimes the wireless didn't work because of small switch to the left of the mouse pad was turned off, as soon as was turned on it worked. Battery life is okay, about 2 hours continuous use. Overall it is a great laptop, it looks great and the speakers are amazingly loud and great quality. I would recommend ...

ive had this HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop since it was released onto the market.i love it and its never given me grief.my sounds never had a problem.nor my wireless.nor booting it up or re-booting it.i dont see me replacing it in along time.

the only thing i could ever mention would be the battery life.but i think if you want a high tech computer these days then the battery never lasts.

i would recommend it to anyone for personal use.not so much for business use, i would say.

The HP Pavilion DV6000 had battery Problems from day 1.
    Screen lid problems.
Stops and starts and goes into a cycle of doing this.
On/off switch poor with silver plate round switch turning the notebook on/off if pressure applied.
    Hard Drive problems within 6months.
Notebook spends more time on repair bench than in use.
Now have a suspected motherboard failure that will cost £300-£400 to fix.THIS NOTEBOOK IS A VERY EXPSPENSIVE PIECE OF TECH JUNK.

The HP dv 6000 has got to be one of the worst laptops i have ever had to deal with always going wrong if its not the sound its the power button or the screen not working, Hp tech are a total waist of time as well.

Great for business or office application. Worthless for games. Cannot play anything past direct x 8 without lagging horribly. Call of duty 4 on Lowest details lags beyond playability and my 9600xt with a p4(6yr old videocard) can play that game on full details with shadows without lag. VIdeocard is not as advertised. In this day of age where a pentium II can do office work and watch movies i would expect a lot more from a amd turion 64 and 330mb videocard. Don't expect to play games on this l ...

I would recommend this laptop. I use mainly for University work and media programmes. Runs very well, user friendly, fast, looks nice!
Has nice screen, is fast while running programs such as Adobe photoshop, iTunes, word docs, many internet windows. Use 24/7 with no real problems. Very user friendly, good wireless and lots of USB ports. Also could put camera card straight in and load with no probs. Was about £500 which is brill for the amount of memory, graphics card etc you get.

I find this computer easy to work with as it constantly helps you in the running life of your computer always informing you of possible updates that will make your computer run much faster. As i've pointed out in all of the above points i would definately recommend this computer.

The HP Pavilion DV6000 has super sensitive QuickPlay keys that cause the player to activate by basically breathing on them...Lost my wireless capability in less than a year (own 2 of these and the same occurred on both of them).
My wife and I bought two of these laptops together in July 2007. After about 6 months - nothing but problems. The fact that we both had identical machines, bought at the same time, and they went wrong about the same time is rather noteworthy I would say.

Everything is great basically, enough memory, amazing graphics card, widescreen(Y), really fast and is perfect for what i use it for and also comes at a gd price. Battery life is a bit poor and the screen is shiny lol so not brilliant for a lot of people sitting round viewing it but then again its a laptop not a desktop :P I recomend this machine its mint and i'm so happy with it lol=]

This is the worst laptop i have ever purchased. This cost me about £500 and it cuts out every so often, and it gets extremly HOT! and a really annoying fan noise comming from it aswell. I then bought a 200 one. It's a lot better, great screen, no fan. Never cuts out. Just shows you eh? NEVER get this trustt me.Everything brakes on itt. I have handed it in to get fixed 8 times I have now given up. I do not recommend HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop.

In DJ roo laptop become a part of fire. During performance suddenly freezes after becoming really hot. (I'm doing video show) I bought a fan for under laptop so now is little bit better than before.

Week I bought I realized that DVD room is not reading some of DVD's even original dvd's and battery life was maximum 1h 30min. So I went to seller at 7th day and he said if I give laptop back they will send it to HP so after 1 week I can get it back. But it was time for parties I'm a VJ and couldn't ...

Would never buy an HP ever again. Very very poor build quality. Wireless packed up 13 months after purchase. Graphics card has now given up the ghost after 18 months. Don't expect a £500 laptop to last such as short period of time. That said others here don't seem to have had the problems I have, but a quick search of the net shows that many others have.

Fast loading, nice clear screen, I like the HDMI port and the laptop looks nice.
Laptop is good for a student or teenager in the house... sound easily sorted out by using headphones... I paid 500 in a package best buy I had. Well recommend HP Pavilion DV6000.

Nice keyboard, comfortable. Lot's of usb's. Nice display. However, the machine is built around Vista, yet doesn't come with the hardware to run Vista effectively. Terrible battery life. Get's extremely hot. Annoying fan. DVD burner malfunctions, won't recognize when there is a disc in drive. I wouldn't get another notebook from HP. Build your own, or get a mac.

This is a super machine, I love the wide screen, keyboard, touch pad... anyway, for the money it's fantastic for use and good looks.
It is as good as any machine even costing more. By the way my machine is dv 6907. Well recommend HP Pavilion DV6000, also love the remote control that comes with it, great gadgets. Infact the only bad point for me is that Vista takes up 30% of my 120 GB Hard Drive (which is'nt small).
