Good Points: Providing you are in a good signal area a standard weak signal antenna is fine. The picture quality is second to none. Congratulations to DOLBY. Surround pro logic sound is exceptional. Cinema quality.
Bad Points: The publicity by Sony promotes the fact that this set is equipped with a PCMCIA slot for ONdigtal module. This is in fact a CAM slot on the rear of the set. Sony do not provide the required CAM, it has to be obtained from ITV digital at cost. The manual makes no reference whatsoever to what the requirements are to enable operation from this slot. Big Black mark SONY. Poor information from such a large international company. The set does not operate CEFAX but Digitext on a seperate channel. This service is very poor, not having the extensive features of the older version of Teletext which could be viewed on each TV channel. Loading of Digitext is slow and labour intensive on the remote control. Cost..I understand that this set was orginally in excess of £1200 new. Not good value for money.
General comments: Overall the Sony VV28DS65 digital TV picture and sound quality are up to the usual Sony high standard. Anyone purchasing this set thinking that all that is required is a payment card from the programme provider to enable full digital viewing, beware.
The cam slot problem has first to be overcome. At further cost.
Teletext on this set leaves a lot to be desired by comparision with the older analogue version.
For such an expensive set, it is not good value for money.
