Good Points: There are so many, suffice to say we have just booked our 7th weekend at this hotel The food is absolutely excellent The ambiance is wonderful You can take a dog (we don't, but you can)
Bad Points: They had started a swimming club on a Saturday for children (outside booking), and we felt this impacted upon the hotel guests use. I know they have to make money, but really, in a hotel of this class, these lessons should be in a local authority pool.
General comments: The Damson Dene Hotel in Bowness on Windermere is our favourite hotels in the UK. It has special memories for us - falling in love, getting engaged, and now going back there just married. The food is wonderful; all the best meat, and produce grown in their market garden. You can have a room with a four poster bed and jacuzzi bath, or just a normal double room. The bar is a relaxed place, and it's only 3 miles from Bowness. This is our weekend retreat to recharge our batteries.
