Good Points: Excellent driving position (I'm 6'2").
Composed ride, at speed and also in town.
    German build quality.
67k miles and feels brand new!

Bad Points: High service costs if main dealers are used.
Large tyres (225/55/16) and M-tech suspension makes it bouncy over rough roads.

General comments: The BMW 318 SE is my first BMW and I have to say, despite it being nearly 10 years old it still drives better than many new cars I have driven; the steering is accurate, and the ride is smooth, if a little firm. The 318 is seriously under-powered though, which is a shame, this is a true drivers car and the 115bhp just isn't anywhere near enough to make the most of it.
Inside, the car looks brand new, all the buttons work, the door handles still clunk as if brand new, and the silky 1.8 makes a satisfying growl at full throttle, even with standard induction.
Within the first 10 miles of my first drive I couldn't help but ask why did I wait so long to buy one! This 9 year old car is by far the best car I have ever owned, and nearly the best I have ever driven.
