Bad Points: £60 administration fee for handling small issues
General comments: I had £60 come out of my account a few weeks after hiring with no explanation at all, still awaiting whatever it was for. Administration fees should only be a resasonable amount only to cover any administration charges incurred- £60 is alot to pay for one employee to buy a stamp and forward on a letter! (especially when they hadn't even let me know, still awating letter a week after the charge too!)

I hired two vehicles from Capital Car and Van Hire in October 2007. I paid for the vehicles over the phone using a Maestro card (never again!). The hire itself went well, but when one of the vehicles was returned the company claimed it was damaged and withheld £213 from the deposit.
In addition, I still haven't been paid the balance of the deposit, which is £219.

Hired a van from Capital Car and Van Hire in 2001. The van, a Fiat Ducato, was not roadworthy and after we'd had a bad accident in which the left rear wheel FELL OFF whilst driving, it turned out that the van was not even insured for road use. I was verbally abused when I reported the accident. I advise you to stay well clear of Capital Car and Van Hire.
