Good Points: Cheap - £10 return in June 2009

Bad Points: Just about everything else.

General comments: I decided to try a low carbon journey to Heathrow using the Greenline Coach Service - 724. The problems started with finding out where the bus stops. Despite over a decade of the internet you have to visit the bus stop to check - you cannot find the detailed route online! Then you cannot find out how much it costs. We had to ask a driver prior to our journey. The buses must be the only Mercedes-Benz vehicles without air conditioning and the ventilation via the small windows was inadequate. The luggage racks on the bus are not adequate for a service serving one of the largest airports in the world. We had to make our way to Terminal 4 - the bus stops at Terminals 1,2,3 - via the laughable Heathrow Connect train service. The service runs four trains an hour and not all stop at terminal 4. A train stuck on the platform for ten minutes due a door not closing while the hopeless staff ran up and down the platform using their walkie talkies rather than just kicking the door shut. This sort of performance art should amuse hundreds of overseas visitors come 2012 and might even win some sort of medal. In summary, this is a service for losers operated by like minded people. I suggest you drive to Heathrow or better still, use another airport - I will in future.

Recently, I had an unfortunate experience with the driver of a coach. I booked on line - and made my outward journey without any problems. On attempting to use my return ticket a few days later, the driver would not accept on line tickets. I pointed out that this was a return ticket - but that cut no ice. He maintained the ticket was out of date and as such invalid and he refused to take me on the bus. Green line have not replied to my emails nor returned my calls. I shall not use this service a ...

I would like to express my deep disappointment about the Greenline bus 724. Today Thursday, 17/10/2008 I have been waiting for the bus Green line 724 in Watford town hall from 12.30pm till 2.10pm and the bus has never shown up. I was due to get to Heathrow airport and eventually I was forced to take a taxi, which cost me £45. I rather had book online car parking if I would know in advance how unprofessional Greenline is.However, the reason I stood in that bus station, because I did believe ...

Greenline Coach Services are much cheaper than the trains and links to most major tube lines particularly Baker Street and Victoria. The coaches do not have toilets on them which makes it quite tricky when one needs to go.
When the coaches are late or cancelled, there is no way of knowing. People have had to wait hours before changing their mode of travel as a result of a late or cancelled coach.
At times, the local buses are used instead of the coaches. It is a convenient way to come to work ...

On the whole a very good value scheduled coach network originating from London Victoria, The Green Line coach station is located above Victoria railway station and not at Victoria coach station. (That's the National Express one situated just across the road). It is fantastically situated at a very good transport hub what with the railway station directly below as well as the Transport for London bus station and London Underground tube station located just a few mins walk away.
    Getting to most pa ...
